We visited the Sant Andrea for Sunday lunch during our recent visit to Taormina. The restaurant is part of a beachside hotel on a beautiful waterfront location on the "Mare" level of Taormina. The restaurant terrace looks over the beach and is shaded by awnings and pine trees so even in the middle of the day it is a comfortable place to sit and eat at leisure.

We were welcomed by the youthful immaculately blue uniformed staff who were professional, friendly and attentive.

My wife had succulent crab on a timbale of rice followed by a seabass which was perfectly prepared and filleted at the table.

I had a delicious large serving of smoked beef on a green salad followed by medium rare lamb cutlets cooked to perfection.

We shared a selection of desserts with coffee and local grappa and limoncello to finish with which came with delicious petit fours.

No better way to spend a Sunday afternoon and early eveninng although the experience comes at a cost, as do most things in Taormina.

If you are staying on the upper level of Taormina the restaurant is just a stone's throw from the cable car which links upper and lower Taormina.

The Sant Andrea is in the same group as the Timeo hotel in Taormina - see separate review of the restaurant at the Timeo.

We went here for our blow out meal and they didn't disappoint. We had the taste of Sicily menu which was
lovely but also huge. The wine was
very expensive but I suppose you pay these premiums in places like this. Service was outstanding although we had a slight panic when all our cards got declined which turned out to be a fault with their card machines. At one point I thought we would have to do the washing up! Without the card problem it would have been 5 stars.

Amazing service, lovely pre dinner drinks over looking the sea. Super romantic.
Make sure you wander around the gardens. Well worth it.

I had dinner here with my family on a recent visit to Sicily. This is a high quality restaurant in what is clearly a high quality hotel. The restaurant is beautifully situated, on a terrace overlooking the sea. We had the 'taste of Sicily' menu, which comprised a wide range of local seafood dishes, as well as two pasta dishes and dessert. Being unfamiliar with Sicilian wines, we asked the maitre d' to recommend a wine. To his credit he recommended a wine with a "good balance between quality and price" (his words), rather than one of the most expensive...
The food was excellent, as was the service until midway through the meal, when two large parties arrived. These clearly put a strain on the operation: there were not enough staff to cope adequately, and we had to wait a long time for our dessert. Even with this hiccup, our experience in the restaurant merits a score of 5.

My husband and I visited this restaurant to celebrate our wedding anniversary. We are staying in Taormina and nearly canx as the trip advisor map suggested it was quite a distance, luckily our reception put us straight or we would have missed out on a really memorable evening. Not even sure where to start.
Our table was over looking the sea and it's bobbing yatch's , there was candlelight everywhere giving this really romantic glow. Our waiter Salvatorie was the most passionate and hard working young man, with superb English. He did everything he could to make us feel like royalty. It is a pleasure to see someone care so much about the job he is doing. The chef sent us a special appetiser which was devine. In fact every course we ordered was simply delicious. There was also a live pianist which added to the whole ambience. I can not recommend this place enough.
