We visited the Sant Andrea for Sunday lunch during our recent visit to Taormina. The restaurant is part of a beachside hotel on a beautiful waterfront location on the "Mare" level of Taormina. The restaurant terrace looks over the beach and is shaded by awnings and pine trees so even in the middle of the day it is a comfortable place to sit and eat at leisure.
We were welcomed by the youthful immaculately blue uniformed staff who were professional, friendly and attentive.
My wife had succulent crab on a timbale of rice followed by a seabass which was perfectly prepared and filleted at the table.
I had a delicious large serving of smoked beef on a green salad followed by medium rare lamb cutlets cooked to perfection.
We shared a selection of desserts with coffee and local grappa and limoncello to finish with which came with delicious petit fours.
No better way to spend a Sunday afternoon and early eveninng although the experience comes at a cost, as do most things in Taormina.
If you are staying on the upper level of Taormina the restaurant is just a stone's throw from the cable car which links upper and lower Taormina.
The Sant Andrea is in the same group as the Timeo hotel in Taormina - see separate review of the restaurant at the Timeo.
