Let me start the review by saying we spent three nights here which was far too long. I didn’t get much enjoyed out of the tourist trap of Taormina whatsoever and would only recommend a night here. Travelled as a family of four.

Our room had a sea view and had a substantial terrace, but not very private, and the room size was tremendous. The room, which was decorated in 1980s sea blue, with wicker everything was indeed comfortable but not luxurious or special in anyway, shape or form no ohss or laaas. Basic mini bar, painfully slow wifi (ping 43 ms download and upload reached max 1.43 mbps) Comfy seating area and stationary area, room service was priced high and menu in German, Italian, French, English, Russian. Ravioli, risotto, fusilli all €30 and sides around €10-22...as expensive as Switzerland and drinks are of course a rip off. Toiletries rubbish...made in China and come nowhere near being of 4 star quality. Bathrobes dated and overused while towels where just okay. No iron offered in room and guests much have ironing done by the overpriced laundry service. Wall thin you could hear left right up and down from all rooms. Only 2 English channels on TV, 1 French, 1 Russian, 1 German and the rest Italian. Disappointing.

Breakfast was served on the terrace which was charming when the sun was beating down. Precooked eggs that tasted surprisingly good! Weak coffee but fresh orange juice. A rather Italian breakfast with sweet pastry, yogurt, cereal and bread on offer. Again, no wow, just nice!

Spa located on the 4th floor offered treatments such as shirodhara massage €58 facials €35-60 peelings €44-94. Wellness area poor but gym was impressive. Little girl sitting at a table taking orders…very small and not 4 stars.

Reception I found was friendly and cute (if I may be permitted to call reception that) and informative. Very professional. Swift check in (for the masses) and complementary car park was handy. Shuttle service to the nearest town was a nice welcome.

The pool and beach area where very well maintained and towel service and lifeguard service on offer.

For me the hotel caters for large cruise groups or Chinese. It lacks character, substance and you really don't get any service. Would only stay one night again, but then again, I would not stay in this hotel, or recommend it.

Room Tip: Get a room with a sea veiw.

What a location! The views from the breakfast terrace are just beautiful. The pool and beach access through the tunnel is indeed very cool.

Is it expensive to have a drink? Well, yes, but it is a 'luxury' hotel with a very high room rate! Nothing dearer than any other hotel of this class really.

Staff were generally very good, breakfast was extremely good. Dinner however, was quite disappointing, take the (excellent) free bus to Taormina and enjoy one of the dozens of places to eat up there

Room Tip: Room 323 is huge!

Not sure where others get the idea this hotel is dated from. A fantastic hotel in an unforgettable location built right into the cliff. The staff were attentive and extremely helpful. The private beach is an incredible place, access is only possible from the hotel's interior through a cave.

We came here for a three night stay. We were really forward to this as the pictures of the pool and beach looked amazing. This was the most expensive hotel we splashed out on for our honeymoon.

The surroundings are beautiful and the pool (and tunnel) is as cool as it looks from the pictures.

Our double room was large, with a surprising extra dressing room! Bathroom modern and spacious. We were disappointed that the rest of the room decor was very dated - early 90's blue wicker.

Facilities at the hotel were good - there is spa, pool, gym, shops etc. Beach was white pebbled beach.

In house bar was extremely pricey. Not good value, a basic club sandwich was €16. Cocktails were well made though. Again the bar is slightly dated and lacked atmosphere. Young staff were not friendly.

A plus point to the bar would be the seating area outside - but we had to stay in to avoid the mozzies.

Breakfast was a good buffet with a good food selection.

The hotel put a transfer bus on regularly to Taormina - this is an excellent service. The town is worth a visit - buzzing, charming and interesting - good atmosphere.

Overall we loved the pool but were disappointed that despite the price tag this did not live up to expectations. No extra effort was made for our honeymoon unlike everywhere else we went.

Room Tip: We visited the hotel out of the main tourist season. If visiting in the summer could imagine that the bus service books up quickly. Taxi back one evening costed around €15.

Following the welcome recommendation of a friend, my parter & I chose to stay here for a week to enjoy the wonders of Taormina. The hotel is located, on its own, at the edge of the island. You arrive at the top of the hotel with the rooms on the floors below. Lifts go down to sea level to reach the hotel's private beach and shore side pool area.

The hotel shows its age - in a good way. Well maintained, stylish if a little 80's. Our room had its own balcony overlooking the bay with the volcano was in the distance to the west. Well equipped, dressing room, large comfortable bed - all you would expect.

The beach, pebbles, needs shoes to bathe. The pool, accessed via a tunnel through a cave, is sea water and a delight.

The staff were all very good though one let the side down. Rather over officious when it came to what you could have a breakfast. A small let down.

Prices though, throughout the hotel, were extremely expensive. 12 Euros for a cocktail! Well, this is Scilly, Italy but even still.

Taormina is a wonder, well worth visiting, if better in the late afternoon and evening when the cruise liners have left. When we come again though, would prefer a hotel up in the town to benefit from the local amenities.

As a beach resort - good. The hotel provides regular return coach travel to the town. There is a cable car within walking distance for those who can brave the Italian roadside. Plenty of beaches nearby, public and private, to enjoy as well.
