La Pensione Svizzera is a real gem! We had a lovely room with a balcony and a magnificent view along the coast. The bathroom was very small but functional. The hotel is conveniently located for exploring the walled town and the for access to the cableway. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The breakfast in the tranquil garden was, however, a highlight: the selection and quality of the breakfast was the best we had in our three weeks in Sicily.

This hotel pensione is one of those places that you know you will revisit. So well located for Taormina. All the Staff are so Smiley & wonderful, nothing is too much trouble even at our 5am early checkout. We received our requested ground floor room (excellent). Sonja at breakfast helping everyone. Reception team a great help in the hotel (also recommending good restaurants). This place knows about hospitality. We would like to have stayed more than a weekend. Thank you for being so professional.

Room Tip: if you need a ground floor (for mobility reasons) always contact the hotel directly. We didn't need a view, Taormina is surrounded by fabulous views.

Having walked through the historic but chique high street, the La Pensione Svizzera offers a cool garden to rest a while, have a drink and chat with other guests or the lovely owner. The rooms are on the compact size, and some might struggle with the tightly packed bathrooms with 3/4 sized showers. However the views from the rooms are wonderful panoramic scenes across the bay and to Italy in the distance. Without any lifts the walk up the stairs may be a challenge if you have large amounts of luggage - but where would you put it in the room and what do you need beyond a few tee shirts, shorts and swim gear ? Oh, some good walking shoes to explore the town and the many restaurants. Ask for recommendations to avoid the trap of yet more pasta and pizza - there are some really nice ones off the main drag. Explore the alleyways and be rewarded.

Room Tip: Some rooms on the lower floor have private balconies.

This is an old traditional sicilian building converted into a hotel. Its well mantained but like most of old sicilian buildings it does not have a lift !. You need some good stamina to reach the top floors but its worth it. The views from rooms which are on the upper floors are magnificant. Hotel was very clean, gentle sicilian staff and breakfast was great. The hotel is walking distance from the old city. It is situated on a main road so it tends to be busy during peak season. A good thing about this hotel is that they can provide parking space which is a nightmare in taormina.

I would definately use this hotel again

Room Tip: Ask for rooms which are on the upper floors if you have some good legs

My very old nd dear friends, Jose Luis and Mercedes Pardos, Ambassadors from Spain, spent four days (June 29 - July 2, 2012) in the Pensione Svizzera before moving to our rented villa down in Mazzaro, five minutes away from the beach. Being older people, Jose Luis and Mercedes regretted at first the lack of elevator to get to the 4th floor, where I had reserved for them a double room with a fantastic view. However, not only did they get used to the stairs, they enjoyed everything else immensely - the view, the air conditioning (there was a heat wave then), the cool garden, the proximity of the "funivia" to get down to see us every day, and the nearness of Corso Umberto I in Taormina, where they went shopping as well as admiring the interesting houses and towers along the way, were all great assets. They were very grateful to me for having chosen your place for them to stay. Of course I saw it too and I agree with everything they said. Except for the stairs, highly recommended.

Room Tip: Higher floors have nicer views but there is no elevator.
