“Great stay”
Reviewed 18 September 2012

The best hotel in Sicily. We really enjoyed staying in this hotel : Great and helpfull staff, nice views , cosy rooms, perfect breakfast, great location. Also they have one more very good service - you can book a bus which takes you directly to the beach. Otherwise, beach would be pretty far away (from all the hotels in Taormina).Worth to visit!

Room Tip: A room with sea view.

Hotel is very nice, gardens are beautiful and rooms are spotless. Staff are friendly although it does seem to be through gritted teeth, not genuinely pleased to serve. Lovely cats live there which as cat lovers, made our time even better. Like Taormina itself the hotel was pricey and a little style over substance. Negative points were: stairs! When you stay on the 4th floor you need oxygen tanks as there are no lifts. We personally didn't like the way Gawin, the porter was treated by the reception staff. I felt like I was in the 1950s when he was referred to as ' the boy' which made me very uncomfortable and it just wouldnt be allowed here in the uk quite rightly! He did everything from manning the bar to carrying bags to the rooms to sweeping and was spoken to like dirt.
Best bit was the breakfast it was immense! Although there was one family who must have eaten everything in sight, sheer greed!
Good stay but Taormina in general didn't really do it for us

We stayed here for 3 nights in September it's a great 3star hotel. Our room had a great terrace with the most fantastic views of the beautiful bays below. My advice is to stop looking and book this superb hotel .10/10 for breakfast and cleanliness.

Room Tip: Room8 faces on to road.

The hotel is just perfect. The room was very confortable with a balcony facing the see. The stuff was very friendly and gave us all sort of information. Perfect location: 2 blocks from the bus station and 2 blocks from the main street
The breakfast was amazing! Fruits, different types of cheese, eggs, breads, ham, bacon, cakes....excellent capuccino...and much more!
A pleasent garden and a reading corner for relaxing after doing nothing at the beach ;)
They work with 2 private beaches to enjoy the sun without worring about anything else. I recommend Paradise (€10) instead of Tropicana (€8) since they have much better facilities and a great restaurant.
The last day we checked-out in the morning, went to the beach and then took a shower at the hotel without any extra cost.
After staying there, any other hotel is quite dissapointing.

Beautiful rooms with aircon, regular towel service and mini-fridge. Great breakfast buffet and picturesque courtyard - perfect place to share a bottle of wine before dinner after a day in the sun.

Staff were very helpful, great little Taverna across the road and a 5 minute walk up the hill to the main area of town (shopping /cafe precinct). The cable car to the beach is also located directly next to the hotel - and it's only 3 euro return per person.

Taormina is heaven, enjoy!

My wife and I just got back from Italy, we spent 3 nights at this hotel.

We took the bus from the airport to get to Taormina, and this hotel is only 200m up the street from the main bus terminal, which was very convenient.

Although the hotel is located on the main road, it's very quiet and peaceful. As soon as you get past the gates, you walk down into the tranquility of their garden patio, which is absolutely gorgeous! It's also the place where they serve you their wonderful breakfasts every morning, made fresh every morning by their warm and friendly staff.

The room itself was beautiful (Room 16, highly recommend it), we had a great view of the Mediterranean. The room was more than big enough, with a flat screen TV with all the satellite channels you could ask for, and a nicely appointed bathroom (no bathtub, but large and well equipped stand-up shower).

Once you're at the hotel, you're just a short-walk away from the main tourist strip in Taormina, but there are actually several great restaurants and boutiques along the way, which have great food at reasonable prices, and the shopping is cheaper than it is on the main strip. You're also located a few steps away from the funicular, should you wish to go down to the beach (I recommend taking their bus package to the private beach nearby, worth every penny!).

We loved this hotel and hope to stay there again on our next trip to Taormina.

I have given this place an over all 4 rating, although I believe a 3.5 is more accurate, but on balance I think a 4 is fairer ...

I'll start with the negatives, so you can end with the positives ...

- the rooms are small. There is just about enough room for two people to have suitcases out and not quite trip over themselves/the cases/the furniture. The rooms are absolutely fine and very clean, but just small.
- there is no elevator. There are steps down from the main road to the main entrance, and, unless you are on the ground floor, there will be steps up to you room. The only positive for us being on the third floor, was that we were not on the fourth floor ... Nobody OFFERED to help ... however, when we left, we asked someone to bring the cases down, which they did without complaint (NB of course, there is no gym, so if you want a workout built in, book the fourth floor and carry your own!). Our fault maybe - don't ask, don't get ...

The positives:

- it's in a great location. It's a few minutes walk from the bus stop, an even shorter walk to the cable car down to the beach, and not at all far (max 10 mins) walk to Taromina town;
- if you have a car (which we didn't), there is parking albeit for a fee (I believe EUR12) and by all accounts, parking in Taormina is nigh on impossible.
- the views. Once you have battled all those stairs, you should expect a darned good view, and you will get it!
- the breakfast was very nice indeed. A good choice, and plenty of it.
- seating area outside - we had time to kill after check out and we sat outside on some sofas reading and relaxing, and it was absolutely lovely.
- free wifi (seems the norm in Italy).

Overall, for value for money in terms of location, cleanliness and overall convenience, I would say go for it. Just train up for it first ;)
