Stayed at this hotel for 2 nights in early October. We were travelling with another couple and unfortunately the only two rooms left were the Atrium Garden Suite and a double seaview room on the first floor. We scored the Atrium Garden Suite on the ground floor which was a quite large comfortable room with a very large bathroom with windows that looked into the atrium garden. The reception was on the other side of the atrium and to access our room we had to go outside in the open air and walk about 15 metres across a little courtyard. All of which is fine apart from if it is raining which it was for part of our stay. The other issue with the Atrium Garden Suite was that it was very dark and we needed the lights on most of the time.
Our travelling companions on the other hand scored the double seaview room which was just as large, albeit with a smaller bathroom, but it had two small Juliet balconies, one at the front and one at the side, from which there were magnificient views of the coastline, the Greek theatre and Mt Etna. The difference in price for the rooms was euro30-00. I would have happily paid the extra if a room had been available.
Breakfast was taken on the hotel's huge balcony one floor down from reception and was largely a cold affair but very good. You ordered what you wanted from a menu and it was all delivered together on a tray. Typical choices were cereal, eggs, granita, juice, cold meats, cheese, fruit compote, fruit, bread, croissants and jam, tea and coffee.
The hotel has an area on the top (4th floor) where you can go to sun bake or admire the view. Drinks can be ordered from the little bar next to the reception and they will bring them to you. Alternatively, you can also order drinks to be had on the balcony where breakfast is taken. We ordered drinks both from the bar (prices very reasonable euro1-50 for a beer and euro3-00 for a Campari spritz ) and also brought our own bottles of wine which we purchased in Taormina.
Recommend a GPS if driving to the hotel as Taormina has many one way streets and the hotel parking is at the back of the hotel on one of these streets. Parking was euro15 a night and I recommend it as well as making parking reservations in advance as space is limited. The hotel has a couple of dedicated pull in car spaces where you can unload and then your car is placed in the hotel's garages, which are not that large, and are carved into the hill under the hotel. Staff will help you unload the bags and they have access to a lift to take the bags up to reception.
All of the staff were very pleasant and helpful. Check-in/out was very efficient and we were able to leave our bags in a safe area after checking out on the last day in order to see more of Taormina.
Hotel is in a great location to access the main street of Taormina. From reception you walk up about 15 stairs walk through the hotel's quite beautiful garden, up about another 15 stairs and then you are in a short alleyway that leads directly onto the main street, Corso Umberto 1.
Would stay again but only in a seaview room.
