Wonderful setting overlooking sea and side views of Mt Etna.
Buffet breakfast with plenty of options, again with sea views.
Staff friendly and helpful.
Rooms cleaned every day to good standard.
Even the pool has views and the pool attendant is there to ensure towels are available for you and face beds in direction you want.
Car parking very cramped and fairly expensive but did not bother me as did not have need for car.
Close to town with plenty of places to eat.
Try turning right at top of road away from main town lovely family run restaurant about 5o yards along, past car hire, opposite gardens, bit cheaper than most in town but wonderful food and again very friendly.

Just arrived back from a week long stay at the monte tauro.
We had a junior suite at the hotel the balcony was amazing with sunloungers and table and chairs. The room itself was huge walk in closet, sofa jacuzzi tub, shower room and very large comfortable bed. Everyday the room was cleaned and left spotless by the maid on duty. Breakfast itself was great huge choice of pastries fruit cold meats cheese and eggs either cooked to order or scrambled, large variety of juices and sparkling wine.
Hotel location was excellent fantastic view overlooking bay. The pool was cleaned morning and night and pool area itself was spotless, the pool attendant was very attentive and made sure beds were turned and parasols were put up.
Hotel itself was nice and quiet very relaxing stay for our whole week.
Yes the walk up and down into town is quite steep but we got used to it although I dont think it would be suitable for anyone who is unfit or couldnt manage a rather steep climb.
Taormina itself was wonderful, a large selection of restaurants and bars many shops and lots of things to see in the area, Taormina comes to life in the evening.
If you are visiting Hotel Monte Tauro in the next few months enjoy your stay we had a great time, Yes its expensive but visit some of the other hotels who charge 150 euros per night and they are definatley not up to the standard of this hotel.
Many thanks to all

We stayed in hotel Monte Tauro and went to beachclub /Lido Stockholm wich is a very nice beachclub/restaurant with very friendly owners and employers.
The beach is very clean and not to busy.
Lido Stocklholm had also a good restaurant and they do anything to make you feel comfertable.
They pick you up from your hotel for free and bring you also back.
So we would recommend to go to Lido Stockholm if you want to go to the beach.

Breakfast was disgusting, poolbar total rip off and staff rude !! Rooms very basic but clean,my room had good view but my neighbour had terrible due to. concrete wall blocking their whole side view.pool attendant was a lovely man..should be manager int opinion :-/.hill outside hotel very steep and dangerously slippy and definitely not recomend this for older person,I would certainly go back to taurmina but not monte tauro unless they improve their customer service.

To get to this hotel we took a large coach to the bus station in Taormina and transferred to a minibus for the next stage due to the steepness and narrowness of the roads. Even the minibus cannot take you to reception as a smaller vehicle is required to take your luggage the final 100 yards. Whilst this might seem troublesome the end result is a hotel in a lovely position built into the hillside, overlooking the bay.The staff on reception were very helpful throughout our stay and rooms were kept spotlessly clean. The views from the rooms were great with all having large balconies and sea views. The hotel is only a few minutes walk from the town with its large selection of restaurants and bars ( the walk however is uphill and very steep just outside the hotel entrance). The restaurant Gattopardo, not far from the hotel serves good food at reasonable prices. Apart from breakfast we did not have meals in the hotel so cannot comment. The breakfast was a little disappointing for a 4 star hotel. As for excursions we strongly recommend the day trip to Mount Etna including the cable car and jeep to the top.

We stayed here for 2 weeks in September. The location was wonderful and the staff could not do enough for you, especially the pool attendant who would always get you a bed just where you wanted it - no towels left on beds at midnight here. Taormina itself is just beautiful and the location of the hotel meant that all the lovely bars and restaurants were just a short (if somewhat steep) stroll away. We will definitely return toTaormina and will definitely stay at the Monte Tauro.

We were very unlucky as for the full time we stayed here it rained. See all the notes about the car parking it is one of the hardest ones I have ever tried to get into. You have to drive down steps to get into it!
We had book a J suite and were given the worst one they had first off. Only after when we asked to be moved they showed us all of the rooms they had free (quite a few) and let us pick. This makes no sense, if work in a hotel you fill up your best rooms first no?
I think that the hotel is used by a lot of package tours which makes it full of brits and germans. I would worry that there may be a problems around the pool and getting space. There were some skirmishes at breakfast with the Italian staff trying to make peace. All a bit dad army!!
The people on reception were not that friendly, we asked them to book a restaurant for us but didn't manage to do it for us (twice).
Not much of an atmosphere.
