This was a really nice surprise, a beautiful hotel in a great location that for some reason is quite a bit cheaper than all the other bars/hotels in the area. It had a great view from the pool, breakfast room and bar. The pool area was beautiful and although we only ate lunch there on one day it was very good, freshly home-made Sicilian food. The whole town was a joy to stay in with lots of options for food and drink in the evening. The room wasn't anything to write home about but certainly was not a disappointment and contained everything we needed for a great nights sleep. Would definitely recommend to a friend.

Room Tip: Room overlooking the pool/coast would be a definite advantage

This lovely hotel is characterful and well placed, just a few minutes walk from the town centre, but with Med views and a peaceful pool area, so you can mix lounging with sightseeing. Rooms have effective, quiet air con.The breakfast spread is superb - see my review on MuesliLover - and lunch round the pool includes a fresh and seasonal spread of salads and typical dishes. The E10 charge for towels around the pool is irritating, so take your own. Other guests included families (but not many) and mostly older couples. Great service, location and ambience.

We are ready to check out tomorrow from the hotel to go to Siracusa and we are both very sad to leave this wonderful hotel and Taormina as well.

The reception staff is great and very helpful. They recommend great restaurants with very acceptable prices. For every issue that you might have, they will always try and do the best to help you.

Rooms are absolutely stunning with great views. Beds are extremely comfortable and I slept like a baby every night we stayed here. The pool is amazing and also has a small restaurant which offers Sicilian specialties with great prices.

Breakfast is very delicious and I was always sad to leave. Go ahead and book this hotel without hesitation. You wont be disappointed!!!

Room Tip: Sea view!!!!

This hotel is without doubt first class. It is 3 star, but worthy of more surely. The staff are the best, most friendly, most welcoming, and most helpful we have ever experienced anywhere in the world.

Initially we found it difficult to find as the directions we were given were not very clear, and it was dark as our flight was delayed. After asking for directions from several people we finally asked a a nearby hotel who rang our hotel. They then sent a car for us to follow and were there in no time.

The parking is tight, and costs 14 euro a day. The staff are experts at squeezing an extraordinary number of cars into a very small place which has to be seen to be believed!! We just left the car at the top of the drive and left it to them. Parking is generally at a premium on the island, and the local transport is very good, and will get you around very efficiently. Even with a hire car we went on an excursion to Mt Etna, which included the cable car at the top, and the mini bus/jeep things to get right to the top, the only ay to see it. Well worth doing.

The pool is small, but ideal for a refreshing dip to cool off from the heat of the sun. We never had any problem findinmg a sun bed. The snack bar is excellent on the pool side terrace, and very reasonably priced too.

The hotel is spotless, with fresh towels every day. The cleaning staff are the best, most friendly we have experienced anywhere. Breakfast was excellent, especially the fresh fruit every day. And it was available until 10.30a.m..

The hotel is near to the botanical gardens which are a nice place to sit and cool off while admiring the view. They are also a useful short cut into the town on an evening to find one of the many excellent restaurants. We were there during the Euro 2012 tournament and the only time we experienced Italians being quiet and less than enthusiastic was when we sat with them in a bar and watched Spain hammer them 4-0!

The views across the bay from our room first thing on a morning, and late in the evening were stunning, with the ever present Mt Etna in the background. Not sure which rooms give the best views, I suppose it depends on personal preferences. Somebody said that room 13 was the best, as long as you are not superstitiuous I suppose. we were more than happy with room 30.

The town of Taormina is very atmospheric, and the film festival was on during our stay. On the last night we had a meal at the Cinque Archi Restaurant. (I may have got that wrong, at any rate it had five arches), in the piazza. We sat on a terrace, over looking the piazza and the bay. Superb.

A very relaxing stay, and the contribution by the excellent staff cannot be under estimated and most definitely made the difference. We would love to have stayed longer than the 9 nights we had, and would recommend this hotel to anyone considering going to Taormina.

Dear Sir,
Thank you so much for your very kind and detailed review, and for rating us a first class hotel. We all were delighted to read your comments and learn that you enjoyed your holiday at Villa Belvedere and appreciated our services. You are right, we still have to recover from the defeat in the football match against Spain……. However, that’s life ! Good luck to Great Britain and Murray for the big final match in Wimbledon. Our warmest regards.

We stayed for a week at the end of May and had a wonderful time. This was our third visit and it is as beautiful as ever. The gardens cascade with bougainvillea and hibiscus and the palms add to the perfect view of the bay and Etna. The two stone windows in the breakfast room create a wonderful frame. Breakfast is good with great coffee with hot milk. Lunch by the pool is very tasty. The pool was unheated so a bit too cold for me, but the terraced areas around are perfect for sun bathing. We stayed in room 49 which was large with some character and a nice balcony. Previously we have stayed on the top floor which has better views but that room was a bit smaller and simpler. Many of the staff were as on our previous visits and very friendly and helpful.
Taormina is a gorgeous place too. Fairly expensive but with fantastic views, largely pedestrian and charming streets, plenty of restaurants, and the Greek ampitheatre, as well as beaches a short bus ride away. (Though do be aware there are some hills and quite a lot of steps around, though the main corso umberto is flat). Further afield Sicily has some other great historic sites as well, like the mosaics at Piazza Armerina and the temples at Agrigento.
If there is a concert on at the Greek ampitheatre do go, it's not the most comfortable (you can rent foam pads) but the setting is stunning!

Room Tip: Pay extra for a sea view and ask for the top floor or the one below
