“Nice inside, but a bit rubbish stairs to it”
Reviewed 7 June 2014

Beach itself is nice, but really packed: like 6-10m of beach sand/gravel and then restaurants/shops (from outside - they seem like for stupid tourist expensive places :) ). We arrived from funivia and stairs/env to arrive is quite rubbish... (no surprise, this matches Sicilian style). Water and see view are really nice. During nice day, I believe, it would be nice laying on the beach and swim there.

“Pretty, but busy”
Reviewed 2 June 2014

We visited Mazzaro via the cable-car from Taormina and it was wall-to-wall sunbeds and umbrellas. If that's the type of holiday for you then you won't be disappointed, but this was only May, and I can only imagine how busy it would be in July/August. The bay itself is pretty and the water is very clear.

There are plenty of excursion boats available for trips around the coastline and there are beachside restaurants and other facilities, including, slightly strangely, ladies wandering up and down the beach offering backrubs and foot massages.

I have to say I enjoyed the cable-car and the walk more than the beach!

“Pretty but small”
Reviewed 29 May 2014

This was a pretty little beach with boats at one end. However, much of the beach was taken up with private lidos; the public area was very small indeed and among the boats. OK when we were there in May but it must be impossible in season unless you pay up for a lido. Access is not obvious. We walked along the main road for some distance the first time (not very pleasant) as it was signposted beach 200m, before discovering an unlabelled underpass from the cable car station car park. The upside of this was that we discovered a pleasant shady bar (Bar Villino Gallodoro) slightly to North of cable car station with fine views over the beach.

“Very relaxing and picturesque beach with smooth pebbles”
Reviewed 28 May 2014

Like the location and it had a nice little restaurant right there for lunch. Also some people were wind surfing and some were taking boating trips. The water was absolutely crystal clear like a glass of water because of the pebbled bottom instead of sand.

“Bella. So beautiful, we are revisiting.”
Reviewed 27 May 2014

We stayed at Mazzaro, lower Taormina, for 7 days, swam, walked, bathed, dined, went up to upper Taormina on the cable car lots of times, to shop, sightsee, lunch. We hired a boat and looked around the nooks and crannies and swam off the boat. Loved the area so much we are returning this year. 10/10.
