We spent 6 nights at the very beginning of May. The hotel is very comfortable, breakfasts absolutely excellent, and service outstanding (every member of staff was incredibly helpful without exception). The top floor restaurant's panoramic views provide a wonderful setting for meals, and an aperitif in the adjacent comfortable lounge area is a must.

Room Tip: Higher floor rooms have best views; we had a junior suite high up. These rooms have a balcony which...

The staff were ever so helpful, from check-in we were assisted by Simona and Ricardo, then by Olga and Natalia for the most of our stay - who were both very patient and friendly at all times, with all guests. All recommendations were excellent, and the went out if their way to book in a yoga class at the last minute...making several calls to organise. We were also assisted with ideas for our drive back to Catania-Canoli at Casablanca (Girdina-Naxos). There was a huge selection of food at breakfast, but I would prefer to have a hot meal that is made to order. All other food was great, especially the ham, cheese, tomato pastry pie.

Went to dinner with two friends who had done a cookery course here in the day and were staying at Villa Ducal (sister hotel) - very nice building, location, very friendly staff, some amazing catacombs, we had dinner outside on the balcony overlooking the sea/Etna, all very nice. Chef came out, very friendly. The food was good, nice fresh ingredients, some unusual twists, and a to-die-for canoli at the end. Good wines, good service.

Just returned from a superb week at this lovely hotel, at the drop of a sunhat we would return again very soon. Restaurant on top floor with views of coast and Mount Etna a perfect setting in which to enjoy the splendid buffet breakfast and a la carte dinners on the evenings we didn't want to explore. The friendly but professional staff looked after our every need.

Besides being an overall gorgeous place to stay, I've never met a happier and more helpful staff in any of my travels. Their happiness and smiles were contagious and it seemed to attract friendly visitors and we became friendly with many of them.
The interior design is beautifully done. The exterior grounds are perfectly kept. I was concerned that the grounds and pool area would be too cramped from photos I saw, but it really felt fine once there. And the pool was heated, which is hard to find in Italy.
They serve a gorgeous breakfast in a gorgeous setting, which was included in our stay. The rooms are wonderfully air-conditioned and continue on while away from the room.
I will definitely go back to this hotel.

We just returned from our second visit to the Hotel Villa Carlotta, and we have already booked our next visit. What a wonderfully relaxing experience! From the moment we stepped in the door until the moment we left for the airport, the visit was just perfect. I cannot say enough about just how amazing all of the hotel staff is - from Simona, Olga, Nathalie, and Riccardo in reception/concierge; to Marco and the wait staff in the dining room; to David, the chef; not to mention the housekeeping, pool and grounds staff. No request is too big or too small, and they are all top-notch! We were especially thrilled with the fact that they were able to return our rental car for us in Taormina, rather than having to return it at the Catania airport, which is a bit of a hassle. And Simona went above and beyond on Saturday morning when we mentioned that we would like to visit a winery. Even though nearly every other Etna winery was fully booked that day due to rainy weather and many cruise visitors, she found a delightful boutique winery - Barone di Villagrande - where we had a wonderful lunch, wine tasting, and tour with the winemaker.

As for our room, we had a lovely mini suite with a private terrace, which was perfect for relaxing in the mornings or late afternoon and enjoying the beautiful view of the sea. The Wifi was probably the most efficient and reliable that we've had in any hotel in Italy. The garden and pool area are also beautiful and very inviting for a relaxing break after a long day of sightseeing. We loved Chef David's cooking so much that we ate in the dining room almost every night we were there. My birthday was during our stay, and the special cake that the pastry chef made was absolutely fabulous. And as others have mentioned, the breakfast buffet is wonderful, with plenty of choices for virtually every appetite and desire. Extra points for having almond milk available in addition to regular milk. And what more could you ask than the stunning view of Mt. Etna and the sea from the lovely terrace and dining room whether you are enjoying breakfast, a late afternoon drink, or a relaxing dinner?

I have seen a few comments regarding the walk into the center of Taormina. That is one of the reasons that we chose Villa Carlotta the first time we stayed. We travel frequently in Italy, and we almost always stay someplace "out of the center" of things because we prefer a bit more peace and tranquility. The villa is located next to a beautiful park and gardens that you can walk through on your way into town. It is just a short less than 10 minute walk that is not a problem at all unless you are mobility challenged or have an infant in a stroller. In fact, I'd venture to say that most of us could use a little extra walking after eating all of the wonderful food.

I have also seen a couple of comments about the cost. I realize not all budgets are the same, but frankly, we found the Villa and all of its amenities to be a very good value. Prior to our stay in Taormina, we had been in Venice and Portofino, and we easily paid three times the room rate and also three times the cost for meals. While the other properties were lovely, their rooms, service, and food were no better than that of Villa Carlotta.

All in all, I would highly recommend a stay at Hotel Villa Carlotta should your travel fortunes take you to Sicily and the wonderful town of Taormina.
