We stayed for 3 nights. The hotel is just outside the center of town near the bus station. So you will need to walk into the center to have dinner, The hotel is lovely with views over looking the sea. The staff is excellent and the breakfast is fabulous. It is the best breakfast we had in Sicily or for that matter in Italy. The breakfast room is located on the top floor and you can take breakfast outside on the terrace on inside. We loved our room it had a large balcony with lounge chairs that we could relax and enjoy our stay. We would recommend this hotel to anyone.

This was one of the best hotels we have ever stayed in. It is incredibly relaxing. It,s elegant without being stuffy. Beautifully designed, the hotel mixes old and new and the bar is one of the most amazing rooms we have ever seen. We loved our room, it was spacious and overlooked the sea, breakfast was consistently good. The pool area is really lovely. Everything about the Villa Carlotta is special but it is the staff that made our holiday truly memorable. Nothing was too much trouble for the front desk, the breakfast staff were superb and so friendly, and the cleaning staff always had a smile while doing an excellent job. We would happily recommend the Villa Carlotta to anyone.

Stayed at Villa Carlotta for 7nights with friend to celebrate my husbands 60th birthday. The hotel is charming, the rooms are furnished beautifully and the views from the rooms on the top two floors are wonderful. We booked double deluxe rooms and were rather disappointed with the size. On the website it describes them as having a two seater sofa and an armchair, both our rooms only had an armchair there was no room for a sofa. None of the windows are bay windows that we know but flat type that open onto stepout balconies. The description just made them seem larger. All the rooms are individual and some are slightly bigger than others. We ask to change and they offered us a free upgrade to a junior suite the next day. What a difference! Room 305, large and spacious with a double aspect view, one of the sea and one of Mount Etna. The bathrooms are large but lacked a magnify mirror and the toiletries were not luxury as stated, they were all bath or shower gels no shampoo or body lotion like you normally would expect and they had been refilling them as some of the bottles were full but not sealed. I mentioned this to the manager and it never happened again during our stay!
Having said all this we had a wonderful stay, the breakfast was really good and they will cook eggs or omlettes fresh for you if you ask, Maria the waitress is lovely! The staff at this hotel are all very helpful and nothing is too much of a problem. On the night of my husbands birthday the hotel arranged a chef to give us a cookery lesson and then we all dined together, it was a complete surprise for him and we all had a fantastic time. The room service is free so you can order tea or coffee to your room anytime. The hotel does have parking although it is 15 euros a day!! The hotel uses a private beach which they shuttle you to and the cost of the sunbeds etc is 8euros each. It is very nice but we preferred the beach at Guardia Naxos the sand was nicer and the sunbeds were only 8euros for two of you! The resturants that the hotel recommend are all very good esp La Botte if you want traditional Sicilian food and not expensive we ate there three times! Valley of the Temples is worth a visit and the Villa Romana del Casale with the mosiacs is a must. We have travelled all over the world and would say this the most generous hotel we have stayed at.

The location is excellent. outside the pedestrian area, easily reachable by car.
From the beginning staff were very friendly and welcoming, they all made us feel at home. Fabrizio welcomed us as an old friend with "savoir-faire", very smart; He gave us a "huge" beautiful room. They were all so kind and gave their best, even more of what I would have expected, to make our vacation comfortable and relaxing. Breakfast very good.
From Taormina you can do many excursions: classic Etna but also other routes, Taormina is an excellent base to explore Eastern Sicily.
Value for money: somewhat expensive. Only a few things we were not very impressed by: parking is charged an extra € 15 per day (expensive, did not find any cheaper option in the area), food (I might be wrong, I thik I am not) is frozen and was served by a maid (any luxury hotel would offer a proper room service, wouldn't it?!!!!).
Many thanks to Fabrizio for his excellent restaurants suggestions, to Riccardo: excursions suggested were very interesting; to Mary for a breakfast that was a real feast.
And thanks the maid (I don't remember the name, sorry) on the first floor. --

This hotel is a small slice of heaven. It is jaw-dropping beautiful. Our room, a junior suite with sea view, was very spacious and overlooked the Ionian Sea from two charming bay windows. The view is stunning as the hotel (like most hotels in Taormina) is perched on a hilltop. Beside the modernized and stylized old-world charm of this hotel, the staff are absolutely wonderful and incredibly helpful. They trip over backwards to accommodate your needs - sometimes without you even asking for anything. My first impulse when we checked in was to extend our stay (at the expense of less time in Palermo). And that is what we did. We loved it. If you are considering this hotel, do not hesitate to pay the supplement to get a seaview.

Hotel Villa Carlotta is perfectly situated for a romantic break (or Honeymoon in my case). It's under 10 minutes walk through some amazing gardens to Taormina, which is a beautiful town. Lovely shops, countless bars/restaurants, very welcoming and friendly people.

We got upgraded at Hotel Villa Carlotta from our 250 euro deluxe room to a 1200 euro a night suite on two floors with a spiral staircase - just wonderful!

Breakfast was a feast with lots of choice but get there early if you can as although I think they say breakfast goes on until 10:30 or 11:00, there's not much cooked food left by 09:30. There are plenty of other things to eat though and they are happy to cook fresh hot food if you are later to breakfast and want hot food. The views from the terrace are breathtaking.

The food on the terrace in the afternoon/evening is very expensive but this is typical of most hotels. The bar is nice to have a drink in before going to Taormina for a meal and the free internet access is a bonus.

We booked a private taxi from and back to the airport which was exactly where it should be and when, the driver was also very friendly and pointed out the attractions on our journey.

Overall we found this hotel perfect for a lovely romantic honeymoon, the location is great, staff very friendly and helpful and the atmosphere very luxurious. If we ever go back to Sicily we will definitely stay here (not sure we'd be lucky enough to get another upgrade though!).

Sicily is a beautiful country and well worth a visit.

Positives ...
+ Lush surroundings and all fixtures and fittings are first class
+ Location is excellent for all attractions but just far enough out of town to be quiet
+ Fantastic and fun service from beginning to end from all staff
+ Room, bathroom and terrace all excellent
+ Sea view
+ Breakfast was the best we had in Sicily with great rooftop location
+ Free room service with food and booze of great quality and reasonably priced
+ Beautifully maintained grounds and gardens
+ Cosy library to sit and read if you get unlucky and it rains

Negatives ...
- Pool area loos felt a bit unloved
- Parking is 15 Euro per day but not sure what the alternative is in Taormina
