Situated overlooking the sea and with direct views to mt Etna, this hotel evokes thoughts of the grand tour that once included this town. The rooms are simply furnished with small balconies and beautiful sea views. There is a lovely terrace where breakfast is served. Parking, if you drive, can be a challenge but they get you in somehow! Leave the car during your stay and use the cable car (10 to 15 mins stroll uphill) to get to the beach. The town's good range restaurants are all within the same short walk through the lovely ornamental gardens. This hotel would be perfect if it had a pool and with some imagination this could be installed in the terraced grounds.

A bit outdated, this 3-star hotel feels like at least 4-star in the overall experience: great people, unbelievable views, very interesting building (designed as a hotel from the first phase of construction almost 100 years ago). We had a room for 3 and we got a 2-room apartment at a very reasonable price with personal entrance from a terrace overlooking both the sea and M. Etna.
We would definitely come back next time.

Room Tip: Didn't see other rooms, but if you come with a kid most probably you will get the 2-room apartme...

A 3 star hotel with breathtaking views. The building is nice, but dated and could take some remodel. Management/service is old style: good but not polished. Seriously: you feel like going back in time. Breakfast was plentiful with prosciutto crudo and good coffee, for those who like a good espresso to start the day. Veranda was gorgeous but I would recommend outside breakfast early in the summer. Internet only works in or near the dinning/living room because those thick 1908 walls limit wireless transmission. A winding road up to Taormina embraces the Hotel, so if you decide to leave the balcony door open, be prepared to hear every Vespa and bus making their way to and from the town.

Room Tip: On a sort of a bad note: Be prepared to walk uphill to get to downtown Taormina. We stayed only one...

We were totally pleased about this hotel. It's a wonderful building and the views are spectacular. Also every member of the personal was very kind: really nice people. The breakfast buffet was perfect too. In my opinion, the hotel deserves an extra star (perhaps the absence of a swimming pool prevents this, I don't know...).

The most important thing you need to know about this hotel is that the views are absolutely unbelievable. Every room and hall way has a stunning vista right across the bay and (from the side of the hotel) across to Mount Etna too.

The hotel itself has been described by another reviewer on here as having a "gentle Edwardian elegance" and since I couldn't put that better myself, I think it's best to simply agree. The place is spotless and the rooms are serviced EVERY day with fresh bedding.

It's located slightly out of the main town area so be prepared for a 5-10 minute walk including some steps to access the shops and restaurants. For me, the trade off in favour of the views and tranquility was well worth the walk!

The staff are friendly and helpful though they don't speak much English. The guy who owns the place it a bit brusque but ultimately very helpful.

Great place, great value for money and would highly recommend it.

Bel Soggiorno is a little out of the centre of Taormina so not easy to find, but what a gem. The views are astonishing and our corner room looked over the coast to Etna in one direction and past the terrace and out to see in the other. The rooms are small but have everything that you need and the beds are comfy and the reading lights sufficient. We were told that we could breakfast on our terrace but there were tables outside the restaurant every morning. One night a week they serve dinner and this was a priceless, if fawlty-esque, evening, which we were delighted we'd opted for. With a Liberace-style pianist and the receptionist and his guitar singing old Beatles' songs, it was a unique, fun experience. The staff are extremely helpful and totally delightful. Things to be aware of - there are a lot of steps, so not suitable for anyone with walking difficulties; and there is no swimming pool, which could be a negative in the middle of summer. I hope we'll be back.

We have stayed here before but had forgotten how perfect it is. The hotel has a gently Edwardian elegance and charm and is wonderfully situated. The staff we remembered were still there. They remembered us too and made us feel very welcome. The balconies overlooking the sea are lovely and the views of Etna amazing.
