This hotel is a very much like a grand old Italian Villa, the views are superb and the decor is very quaint but charming. We stayed over August when is was mostly full, but it always seemed quiet and restful, a perfect place to stay if you want a complete chill out. The breakfast was good for a 3 star hotel and served on a beautiful terrace by friendly staff. The room was serviced daily with clean linen and towels and complimentary toiletries. The bar is normally manned from about 4 pm, but if you want anything before then you can always ask at reception. They also let us put a few things in the hotel fridge, as there are no fridges in the rooms.

The main town of Taormina on the Corso Umberto is about 15 mins walk away going uphill. The first restaurant you find on the road to the town is called Al Giardino which is fantastic and we would strongly recommend dining there. The beach is about 20 minutes away down some steps, you can get a cable car back up, but it is surprising how you get used to going up and down the steps, just take plenty of water with you! The main bus station is about 10 minutes away, we took a bus to Castelmola a village about Taormina which is a good short trip to do, with fantastic views of Etna. There are also regular buses about every 15 mins to the next resort of Giardini Naxos which has nice sandy beaches.

This really is a gem of a hotel with the most amazing art deco interior & views across Isola Bella & Giardarni Nexos bays. This was our 2nd visit to the Bel Sogg & Luigi, Sebastiano, Nico & the rest of the staff made our stay so fantastic we really did not want to come home. I can highly suggest eating at the Gamberro Rosso just off the main street in Toarmina (there is a pastry shop on the left corner). The sea bass was to die for & if you are very lucky they will give you the family recipe for the sicilian sauce. My only word of advice would be to remove any jewellery if going to Isola Bella or one of the lidos especially if you decide to have a massage from the chinese ladies who offer this at a reasonable cost. Unfortunately it cost me my wedding band when it was slipped off my finger during the massage. But this has not put us off from returning to Taormina & plan to go back next year.

Situated overlooking the sea and with direct views to mt Etna, this hotel evokes thoughts of the grand tour that once included this town. The rooms are simply furnished with small balconies and beautiful sea views. There is a lovely terrace where breakfast is served. Parking, if you drive, can be a challenge but they get you in somehow! Leave the car during your stay and use the cable car (10 to 15 mins stroll uphill) to get to the beach. The town's good range restaurants are all within the same short walk through the lovely ornamental gardens. This hotel would be perfect if it had a pool and with some imagination this could be installed in the terraced grounds.

A bit outdated, this 3-star hotel feels like at least 4-star in the overall experience: great people, unbelievable views, very interesting building (designed as a hotel from the first phase of construction almost 100 years ago). We had a room for 3 and we got a 2-room apartment at a very reasonable price with personal entrance from a terrace overlooking both the sea and M. Etna.
We would definitely come back next time.

Room Tip: Didn't see other rooms, but if you come with a kid most probably you will get the 2-room apartme...

A 3 star hotel with breathtaking views. The building is nice, but dated and could take some remodel. Management/service is old style: good but not polished. Seriously: you feel like going back in time. Breakfast was plentiful with prosciutto crudo and good coffee, for those who like a good espresso to start the day. Veranda was gorgeous but I would recommend outside breakfast early in the summer. Internet only works in or near the dinning/living room because those thick 1908 walls limit wireless transmission. A winding road up to Taormina embraces the Hotel, so if you decide to leave the balcony door open, be prepared to hear every Vespa and bus making their way to and from the town.

Room Tip: On a sort of a bad note: Be prepared to walk uphill to get to downtown Taormina. We stayed only one...

We were totally pleased about this hotel. It's a wonderful building and the views are spectacular. Also every member of the personal was very kind: really nice people. The breakfast buffet was perfect too. In my opinion, the hotel deserves an extra star (perhaps the absence of a swimming pool prevents this, I don't know...).

The most important thing you need to know about this hotel is that the views are absolutely unbelievable. Every room and hall way has a stunning vista right across the bay and (from the side of the hotel) across to Mount Etna too.

The hotel itself has been described by another reviewer on here as having a "gentle Edwardian elegance" and since I couldn't put that better myself, I think it's best to simply agree. The place is spotless and the rooms are serviced EVERY day with fresh bedding.

It's located slightly out of the main town area so be prepared for a 5-10 minute walk including some steps to access the shops and restaurants. For me, the trade off in favour of the views and tranquility was well worth the walk!

The staff are friendly and helpful though they don't speak much English. The guy who owns the place it a bit brusque but ultimately very helpful.

Great place, great value for money and would highly recommend it.
