We booked a suite at the Bel Soggioni hotel with a see -view. The view was really spectaculair and the balcony was huge. The suite is spacious. The staff wekcomed us with a bottle of sparkling wine.

Breakfast is moderate. The water pressure in the shower was very low making a shower less enjoyable. The hotel needs an invesrment to bring the facilities to todays standards. Reception staff was helpful and professional. They gave us good advice for Etna-excursion.

The walk from the hotel to the city centre is quit steep and a challenge for people with an under average physical condition

Fabulous hotel, with what must be the best views in Taormina. We arrived at night so didn't appreciate the views until the following morning. Wow!! I was in room 30 which opened out onto a semi private terrace which overlooked the gardens which overlooked the sea. It's not a stone's throw from the sea, but with the steep downward gradient you'd think you were. 180 degree views of the sea, Giardini - Naxos, and of course Mount Etna. You can watch the fishing boats and luxury yachts approaching and mooring in the bay, the steam & smoke puffing out of Etna or just relax and watch the gentle swell of the ocean.
The hotel itself is a very old house with around 40 rooms. Some are accessed from their own terrace, others internally. The internal rooms are higher up and have balconies. Our rooms both had terraces which we found easier, because you could enjoy the garden more without wandering through the hotel corridors. It doesn't have a pool, so is good for travellers without kids (which also means less noise for us old fogeys ha ha). Breakfast is continental, as you'd expect, and is served in the conservatory and on the adjacent terraces. Refreshing juices, fruit, cheeses, cold meats, lots of bread and pastries, endless supply of coffee (this is Italy after all). The hotel doesn't serve dinner sadly apart from on special occasions. It does serve snacks and drinks from about 4 o'clock everyday, which you can take in the conservatory, on the garden terraces, or at your room. We spent the majority of our days and evenings out exploring, but a post trek/pre dinner drink was very welcome.
The rooms are ok. Everything you need apart from fridges. Some hotels install fridges not necessarily mini bars, but empty ones for your own stuff. It's recommended but I'm sure not fatal, that you don't drink the tap water. So you buy bottled. Where do you store it? By the time you come back from wherever you've been it's warm. You may have bought some local wine, or fruit. Again, nowhere to store it.
Don't let this dissuade you from this hotel. It's a real gem. It's quiet, close to the town, and has picture postcard views. Very well recommended.

Our last full day in this hotel and we will definitely come back. It sits on the hill overlooking the bay and the views from your room's terrace / balcony are stunning. Slightly away from the buzz of the town centre but only a 10-15 min walk away. Breakfast is served buffet style and has a good variety. Once a week they do an evening meal at 30€ and it's great value. Staff are friendly and helpful. It has a very olde worlde charm. I wouldn't recommend this hotel for those who have mobility problems - lots of stairs and an uphill walk into town.

As other travellers have amply commented the ace this hotel has up its sleeve is the stunning location perched on the hillside below Taormina. The views out to sea and particularly to Etna from the south patio are amazing. Having breakfast on one of the two external terraces is a superb experience. The hotel itself is rather dated and could do with a make-over particularly the bathrooms. And the one thing I really missed was a swimming pool. It has the advantage of being out of town but climbing all these steps repeatedly became quite tedious. This is not a resort for the infirm. The service was irregular; one evening we arrived back about 11pm and succeeded in securing a pot of much needed tea yet at 9.30pm on another day the waiter was nowhere to be seen. Having dedicated chairs and sunbeds outside each room is a plus. Would I return? Probably not since a pool is a must here.

stayed here with friends for 2 nights in May. Slightly old fashioned hotel but views over the bay are fantastic. Bar service available if you call someone from reception. Breakfast buffet OK. No restaurant but huge selection of nearby restaurants. We were here a week before G7 summit so security everywhere, If you hire a car - good luck with parking at the hotel - very steep!!

Room tip: Room 1 is the best.

My husband and I went on a weeks break, and stayed in this hotel.
We had the most fantastic time and consider it one of our best hotels.
I would not say it was five star luxury but if you are fed up of corporate hotels that have no character then this is the place for you! Relaxing and quite short walk to the town which is slightly up hill or up a set of steep steps, but the taxi service is cheap. Breakfast served outside our room every morning, lots of healthy choices! The main attraction is one very special person Sebastiono, what a delightful helpful person nothing was to much trouble for him, thank you for making our holiday so special. The views where to die for, lots of quite places just to relax. Booked again for next year! Also special thank you to the wonderful people we met Joan and Stephen, John and Pam, great memories x

Room tip: Choose room number 14 you won't be diasapointed
