“The Best Hotel at Taormina”
Reviewed 25 August 2014

My sister and I had the pleasure of staying at Villa Bianca during our week-long vacation in July. We both absolutely loved the hotel! The staff was very friendly and helpful, and the room service kept our rooms nice and clean. The delicious complimentary breakfast was a great way to start each new day. The location of the hotel was also excellent: Our rooms had a beautiful view of the ocean, and we were only a short walk from the beach, restaurants, and two supermarkets. The cable car station was conveniently located right around the corner. From there we were able to get to downtown Taormina located on top of the mountain in just a few minutes, to enjoy visiting the many cultural attractions and the many interesting stores and good restaurants there. The view of Mt. Etna was always a very special experience! We highly recommend Villa Bianca to other travelers, and look forward to returning there again during our next visit to Taormina.

Room Tip: We stayed on the third floor rooms where we enjoyed the views, and were not disturbed by street nois...

The hotel is in a very good location; right next to the cable car to take you up to Taormina, and it's right by the beach.
The hotel is cleaned very well daily. We didn't pay a lot for this hotel, so I think you need to be realistic with your expectations. It served well as a base in a good location. The road outside it is very busy and noisy, this isn't the hotels fault, but thought I should mention it to benefit other travellers.
The roof top terrace is lovely but very under-utilised. If it had a little bar up there it would attract a lot more people. Beautiful views up there.
The breakfast lets this hotel down. It is very limited for a hotel of this size, you only get a choice of bread rolls, croissants, cereal, muesli, yoghurt, tinned fruit, a plate of cheese slices, ham, and jam. If breakfast had been better I would have rated it 5 stars. I will mention the breakfast/restaurant manager (I don't know his name) but he was very helpful when my partner informed him of his gluten intolerance (senza gluten in Italian). He provided gluten free bread and fruit for him as there was nothing suitable on the breakfast table. It was appreciated, so thank you to him!
The actual resort of Taormina is lovely. It is nice and authentic, when you eat out the menus are Sicilian, which is what I think is nice to experience. Beaches are pebbles but it's not a problem. Very expensive to use a sunbed on the beach, my tip is to head to the far end of the beach where it's free to lie on your towel.
We did an excursion up Etna, wow! It was very active when we went, such an amazing experience. Quite pricey, but when are you going to be stood next to an erupting volcano again in the future?
Food can be pricey to eat out, we found the cheaper options of Sicilian seafood risotto to be cheaper and lovely! Lovely food and ice cream in the town.
Overall, hotel was fine, no problems, but improved breakfast would have been a five star rating. Resort is quaint and lovely. Would return.

We stay 6 days with my wife and use this hotel like B&B. This was not bad. Bud stay with children and go down to Taormina Beach no good idea. To many stairs.
Breakfast was good nothing special, bud we miss nothing.
Parking places in hotel are limited, like in whole Taormina. We must stay some days on not legal places but no big problem :)
Location of hotel for traveler's they arrive afternoon and go eat in Taormina city center with the cable car very good. The Cable car to the nice city center is close to the hotel.

Room Tip: We have room close to the air-condition units :( Not very quiet.

Sicily. Taormina. Taormina Mare. Hotel Villa Bianca. Fantastic views over the sea and a lagoon like beach. The cable lift to the very touristy city(but still beautiful)Taormina meters away from the hotel. 100 meters walk down the stairs to the beach with sun chairs and restaurants. Such a nice lazy beautiful place to be at. I have spent 17 years in South east Asia, and I love that but I have to say that this is more like home....

Having tried a number of restaurants in and around Taormina, we sadly report that this was our worst meal over the 7 day period. Mediocre food, service and value. We would recommend that if you are staying at the hotel or in the vicinity, that you take the funivia up to the town where you have a greater choice and some very good restaurants that are not tourist traps. Dolmen was our favourite.

We stayed here for 3 nights. Our room was spacious with a good sized wardrobe & bathroom. Shower was average. The view was perfect - overlooking the bay. The noise from the street was too loud. No chance for a sleep in. But why would you when you have a great breakfast awaiting. Or not. Fruit from a can. No fresh coffee - the waiter just walked away when we asked why they couldn't provide an espresso. Stale bread. Sugary muesli. The men at the front desk were very friendly & helpful (except for one). The guy at the bar was delightful & always had a smile for us. He made good coffee! The hotel is right next to the gondola which goes up to Taormina & across the road from the beach. Given the price the hotel was ok. Brekkie could be improved.

The view from our room was amazing! Overlooking the ocean and beach. Easy walk down to the beach and to local restaurants etc. The rooms were most comfortable and clean. Breakfast and Dinner were ample. Diner service was like silver-services.
Staff were most friendly and helpful.
