“Quiet hotel-stunning views!”
Reviewed 5 August 2013 via mobile

Stayed for a week in this quietly grand hotel. Enjoyed it mightily. The staff are friendly and attentive, and as we stayed half board we didn't have to bother with going out for two trips to eat (lunch and dinner) glad we did as the evening meals were excellent each time with a choice of mate, fish, pasta etc.
Breakfast was an extensive buffet with various breads, pastries, cereals and fruit and of course, bacon, scrambled eggs and grilled tomatoes for those Brits craving a cooked start to the day!
The pool although down 184 steps was never busy so that was a bonus. I would say this hotel is perfect for a quiet stay - we had stunning views of Isloa Bella, Messina and Calabria across the Med-wonderful!
Taormina itself is rightly known as the pearl of the Mediterranean - stunning views and an atmospheric Greco-roman amphitheatre at the top of town. Worth a visit -you won't be disappointed !

There are stunning views of the sea, the staff are really friendly and don't overly pester all the time. The pool area is quiet with stunning views. The hotel is just outside the centre on Taormina (about a 10 minute walk) where there are loads of restaurants and shops (although the shops are very expensive). The room was very well air conditioned, a good size and always clean. This hotel is best suited for adults and couples, if you are a family with younger children it is probably not the right place as there is little entertainment for them. It is best suited to couples who want a peaceful break.

The hotel is in a great location and has stunning views across the bay. Taormina is a beautiful place to stay in Italy. I was disappointed with the hotel. The only sun beds around the pool are cheap hard plastic and have no cushions. Relaxing was not a word you would use. Beaches are expensive to visit and not pretty so the pool is essential. The room is clean and OK but the shower was tiny - just a shower tray with a long plastic curtain that sticks to you. The TV is an old fashioned portable. Only 1 out of 3 lights in the room worked. You cannot hear other guests in the room but the plumbing is ridiculously loud. Everytime a toilet is flushed, a shower is taken, water goes down a sink - you hear it and it will wake you up! The terrace has stunning views but lacks atmosphere - just 8 plastic tables with 2 plastic chairs at each. If they had great designer sofas and tables and an elegant bar there all the residents would stay but no one does and they go into town where there is some atmosphere. The same is true of the restaurant. The only people who eat there are those who paid for full/half board. It lacks people and atmosphere. If you decide to stay here I would suggest just B&B as there are literaly hundreds of restaurants in the town and we never had a bad meal. The service is mixed. The pool attendant and waiters are nice and friendly but the reception staff are indifferent and verging on rude. This was probably once a stunning and elegant hotel - the owners look as if they are controlling costs rather than investing now in keeping it going. There are lots of similar hotels in the area with the same views. I would recommend you look at them before booking.
Final tip - if you have to arrange your own transfers - we picked up a taxi on a meter at the airport and got stung for 165 Euros - the most expensive taxi ride I have ever had! The bus costs 8 Euros ! The bus station is opposite (and near almost every hotel) the buses are like coaches, very clean and air conditioned and run on time every half hour. I would recommend that, however on Sunday they dont run as often so check. Lots of flights land Sunday and the road to Taormina is congested and can have very very long tail backs on Sundays as the Italians visit too(think English bank holidays on a sunny day) so dont go off the meter and agree a price with any car. The rate at the moment is 85 euros. Hope that helps you out.

Lovely hotel
Great position about 5 mins walk into the main street in Taormina
Opposite bus station (but don't let this put you off as not that busy and no noise in hotel) so its just across the road for pick ups for any trips
Lovely room with big balcony, which you can watch the sunrise if up early enough (about half 5-6). Blackout curtains so really good nights sleep (always remember to shut bathroom door though).
Great sized pool which always has available sunbeds
There are around 200 steps down to the pool from the hotel, so please bear in mind when booking
We were half board and the food was lovely. A la carte menu
Helpful and friendly staff

Our room was a standard double, it was teeny, hard to get around the bed, the bathroom was also small. This aside it was plush, really nicely finished and clean.

The restaurant was average, very formal and the food was OK, we only ate there once as Taormina restaurants were far superior. We did go to breakfast each day which was OK, good choice of food.

The pool is lovely, although there are very steep steps to get to it. The gardens were well maintained and the pool bar was good too. The pool itself was regularly cleaned.

The Hotel is outside of the main town, very quiet.

Good hotel, good base to explore.

Wife and self spent a great week at this hotel. Staff excellent - food very good. But did eat out in evenings - restaurant is formal IF you like that sort of thing.
Rooms very clean.Pool excellent as 184 steps down through beautiful gardens - so pool not for those who have problems walking. No fitness centre but has tennis court.
Next to chair lift to beach. All in all very relaxing.

Room Tip: Try to choose room with a balcony
