“Loved it.”

Before going I read some of the other reviews and started to worry. I needn't have worried at all. From arriving (which was well sign posted on the road) the immediate greeting was lovely. You are asked to relax (with prosseco) while they check you in and take your bags. The view is stunning and one you'll enjoy all holiday. We had a bungalow, no jacuzzi, yes they are small but what else do you need in there? It's no smaller that a standard hotel room really and I loved the unusualness of it. The hotels restaurant and drinks are pricier than the snack bars, you sign for everything and pay at the end, which bear in mind came as a slight shock on our departure when we realised how much everything had added up!!! Not a single person there was ever rude or unhelpful. No matter what job they did I felt like they personally wanted me to have a lovely stay and that we did. Breakfast sat outside on the terrace overlooking the Isola bella with a freshly squeezed orange juice is why it's worth paying slightly more to stay here than somewhere else! The beach is private and Hamza who looked after the beach was amazing, knew to leave you in total peace, but seemed to be there just as you needed him. The only annoying thing is the Taiwan ladies constantly asking you if you want a massage but they soon got the message. We often had lunch at the next snack bar on the beach which was a bit cheaper but when you eat in the restaurant you really are paying for the quality, the bread here is freshly made for you and brought out warm and service that feels personal for you. I could have worried that being 5* I would have felt out of place it that it be pretentious in some ways but it wasn't. I felt like I was made to be special the whole time but everyone had a personality too. It's totally stunning, very romantic and we stayed there for 10 days. As everyone else says the the cable cars as as they write and the best way to get into Taormina where you then have lots of options for the rest of your activities.

I'd definitely go again, the place has become very special to me and I adored it. Enjoy"

We have just stayed at La Plage for five nights. I have to say after reading the recent reviews I went with low expectations but was pleasantly surprised that the staff on arrival and during our stay were very friendly and keen to help. It's a great location but there are some downsides to the hotel. We were booked into a sea view room with a jacuzzi. The room was basically next to a main path from the beach/restaurant to the rest of the hotel so everybody passed by and could see you when you were on the terrace and yet the sea view was blocked off (room 205). However, we really liked the jacuzzi and used it most days. I would give the hotel restaurant a miss or just stick to very simple dishes - the waiters and waitresses are lovely but the food is poor. We also had to contend with work being done at the hotel for most of our stay - this meant there was a digger on the beach whilst you were trying to sunbathe. They say it's a private beach - it isn't really - you will constantly be hassled by people touting for business whether to sell you cheap jewellery or ask if you want a massage. All in all I wouldn't go back but it's a great location - I would just limit your stay to max a few days and make sure you are clear about what room you are getting. Also it didn't bother us but there is a train line that rubs directly above the hotel.

Although a fabulous location, the hotel staff is in desperate need of customer service training. Very rude and inpatient staff coupled with mediocre rooms and facilities makes for a huge let down. Unfortunately I cannot recommend this hotel.

We stayed 3 nights at the La Plage Resort in Taormina. It is on the best beach located in this part of Sicily, namely, Isolabella. Rocky and you need water shoes. But the rocks make it like an aquarium. Awesome. The bungalows were small but comfortable. The jacuzzi is not all so great but the deluxe bungalows with jacuzzi sort of guarantees a great room location. Yes, too expensive, but so are most hotels in Taormina.

The walk to the cable car is 5 minutes and the ride up to Taormina center is 3 minutes. So perfect location.. Also, wonderful helpful staff all troughout the hotel..

Room Tip: Ask for seaside bungolows.. Good location.

Everything began when we arrived at a isolated parking lot on the street level, and nobody was there to greet us. Our driver pushed the buzzer to let the hotel staff know that we had arrived and someone came upstair to help with the luggage.

When we went down the stars and arrived at the this little area where they called it reception, we were greeted with some boxed processed juice, a young girl let us know that our room was about to be ready and directed us to the outside seating where we found an ashtray full of cigarret butts that were probably seating there for hours.

When we got to our garden view bungalow we were very disappointed. When you book and pay for a "Five Star Resort," you expect at very least outstanding service and comfortable well designed rooms. Instead, what we got was a small room, a very small bathroom that would't fit my fiance and I at the same time, and poor room decorations.

The food at the restaurants was good on our first night, but on the following nights average at best. Breakfast was disappointing because on the first day the bread on the buffet had mold, they used powdered eggs for the scrambled eggs, had difficulty cooking a simple soft boiled egg.

I could keep writing here about the down sides of this resort for a long time, but I will just stop now.

Again, if you like the luxury of a 5 star resorts with great service... This is NOT for you.

We have arrived here without a booking and were treated very nicely. The resort staff showed us a couple of bungalows out of which we have chosen a garden view one. Room was simply decorated and spacious with good air-conditioning. Shower was big and clean with all the amenities expected from such a resort.

The breakfast here was simply fantastic with prompt and efficient service and very nice, fresh food. After breakfast, we have enjoyed the resorts clean private beach with free sun-chairs and umbrellas with Isola Bella just in-front of us.

We did not see (or require) a swimming pool, so if this is important to you - I suggest you inquire in advance.

We have asked the front desk lots of questions concerning sites and places in Sicily and Taormina. All staff members were knowledgeable, patient, and keen to help. Rudolf, the front desk manager, provided exceptional attention.

There is a good connection from Messina to Taormina by cable car which costs 3 euros per direction. The cable car is a 10 minute walk from the hotel (there are some steep stairs to climb but this is the topography of the place). Cable car runs until midnight.

We are looking forward to our next vacation in this property and would recommend it to our friends and family.

My wife and I stayed at La Plage Resort in the last week of July.
We were looked after from the time we landed with the collection from the airport (even though BA managed to land 2 hours late) the taxi driver was there waiting for us.
On arrival at the resort our bags were collected from the taxi and we were given complimentary drinks overlooking the island whilst our bags were taken to our room.
Despite the late hour we were shown around the resort to get our bearings and then retired for the night.
Our Bungalow was clean and had all the facilities we needed including a small garden with 2 chairs & a table with a sea view.
Breakfast was simply great so many things to choose from and all the staff were very friendly and helpful.
The beach bar is great and once again all the staff were very friendly & helpful and the view was tremendous.
The beach although stony was great with sun loungers & parasols and towels provided the lifegaurd even showed my wife how to feed the fish off the beach every day - the sea is warm clear and clean.
The evening meals were tremendous with great food helpful attentive staff and a great view over the bay.
We were so sad to leave!!!
Would we go again of course we are and are going to book up for next year.

Thanks to all the staff at La Plage Resort

Garry & Viv Willis

Room Tip: The bungalows are the best with a garden & sea view
