We ate at Rosso Di Vino on our last night in Taormina on the recommendation of the owner of the apartment we were staying in. While we had been in Taormina we had eaten in various restaurants, all of which had been ok but all much alike and nothing exceptional. However, Rosso Di Vino turned out not only to be the best restaurant of the holiday but perhaps the best restaurant we have ever eaten in. We love our food and have eaten in some great places, michelin starred restaurants included but this place beat them all. We probably would never have found it ourselves, it is off the Corso Umberto (the main street with the majority of the shops and restaurants) but not visible from the Corso itself. It is mainly a fish/seafood restaurant, with one meat dish on the menu. Everything is freshly caught and the fish is brought out to you on a platter for you choose which you would like. You also have a choice of how they cook it for you. Front of house is run by 3 English speaking sisters, very friendly and welcoming and every dish is explained with obvious love and passion! Also each bottle of wine is available by the glass as long as the bottle is less than €50, which is quite rare and the sisters knowledge of the grape/region is very impressive. The food was amazing and when it came to dessert the chocolate souffle was heavenly (I could have eaten 2!). This place deserves a michelin star and it was the perfect end to our holiday in lovely Taormina.
