“Beautiful apartment, in the heart of Taormina, giving you the experience of living like a local”
Reviewed 10 August 2014 for a stay in August 2014

This apartment is much more than we'd expected from the pictures and the pictures look great! Anita is the perfect host who will help you organise trips around the area and give you advice about local attractions. Location, location, location... You are in the heart of the action with this apartment offering one of the best views of the people going about their business on the Corso Umberto. It is very central giving equal access to all cafes & restaurants, shops, the local gardens, Teatro Greco, the cable car to the beach, everything is within reach of this great apartment.

“Absolutely perfect!”

This apartment is just exquisite and made Sicily our favorite Italian stay! There is not a better place to stay in Taormina, with your own flower-filled balcony overlooking the center of Corso Umberto, with all the fine shops, restaurants, piazzas and churches. Simply put, it is the perfect location.

My college friend and I spent 6 days in Anita’s apartment late September, booking it because of the high ratings on Trip Advisor, what seemed to be a good location and the photos. The cost was similar to a nice hotel nearby, but additionally we enjoyed… a much larger space – nice to be able to spread out and have some personal space… washer and dryer… iron, hair dryer, razor (can’t carry that on the plane!)… air conditioning NOT controlled by the hotel [our two earlier stops in Stresa and Milan had a/c BUT it was not functioning in Sept. to save energy]… a full kitchen with stove, oven, dishwasher, cleaning supplies, fridge and freezer so we could buy fresh products and cook an occasional meal in, as well as daily breakfasts and snacks … lots of storage … a beach umbrella... an immaculately kept apartment, filled with art by the top modern artist in Sicily, Antonio Forlin… and Anita Perricone, the owner, just next door, a charming "concierge", who made recommendations, gave touring options, even helped checking us in with Alitalia for our trip home plus arranging a very early trip to the airport when we were leaving.
[Previously we stayed in hotels and in an apartment in other cities, and we vastly prefer the conveniences and space an apartment offers vs. a typical hotel room; even if you do not cook, the option to clean your clothing in warm weather and enjoy lots of space appeals to us IF you have researched the immediate area for conveniences and services you might need. ]

We flew into Catania, and at Anita’s recommendation took the bus from the airport to Taormina (less than €8, 1½ hr. tour of the coastal area). There was a walk about 15 mins. up to Corso Umberto #113 area… take your time and enjoy the views, or get a taxi if your luggage is not manageable. Anita was waiting for us [note, there is a wide flight of stone steps to the entrance to the 1st floor apt.] with Sicilian wine and cannoli, both wonderful. She lent us Sicily guides, directed us to the supermarkets (and supplied a wonderful wheeled cart for the bulky purchases) and good restaurants, etc. Couldn’t ask for more! The art shop featuring Antonio Forlin's art, Don Corleone Objects, next door is open from 10am til evening, with the customary lunch break, so you can always stop in for help or advice.

Taormina is incredibly lovely, like a movie set… stunning views, friendly people, great food, stylish shopping, including many traditional ceramic shops, linen stores and shops selling local beverage specialties like Pistacchio Liqueur and Limoncello, along with dried herbs, exotic sea salts, locally-made soaps, etc. The piazzi are special in the evening as locals and guests wander the Corso and assemble in the open areas where artists paint and children scoot around and kick soccer balls. Cafes and trattorias offer outdoor seating for savoring the scene, and many churches glowing with candlelight are open for admiring and prayer. We visited the Greek Theatre, Communal Park, took a day trip to Mt. Etna, the Sunday market in Randazzo and the Alcantara Gorge. A public bus took us up to Castelmola which overlooks Taormina and much of the coast; taking the cable cars down to the beaches and Isola Bella was fun, but do get or bring shoes for walking on the pebbles in the water and on the beach.

Six nights in Taormina was not enough. Highlights include a band marching through town one day, and being serenaded at 4:30am by “three tenors” (not THOSE tenors) as they wandered home at the end of a long night. We visited and passed dozens of shops offering beautiful pieces of art... but made special purchases for our souvenirs; after sipping espresso daily from hand-made cups, and enjoying the spirit of the decorative (and food safe) ceramics in the apartment, we shopped at Don Corleone Objects for special Sicilian ceramic keepsakes of a magical, memorable visit to Taormina and Sicily.

Thank you, Anita, it was absolutely perfect, and we hope to visit you again. Grazie mille!

“Excellent apartment in the heart of Taormina”
Reviewed 14 January 2013 for a stay in October 2012

The apartment was excatly as shown in the photos, spotlessly clean and fully equipped in all respects, including fruit and wine. It is superbly decorated and ideally positioned at about the midpoint of the main street, Corso Umberto.
Anita promptly answered all my questions prior to the booking and was equally helpful once we were there. It was very convenient that her shop containing the excellent artwork of her artist husband was a mere 20 metres from our front door. Her recommendations for restaurants, Tiramisu and Granduca, were both excellent.

I can't imagine a better place from which to explore the delights of Taormina. Highly recommended.
