Spacious, clean and well equipped. Two minutes walk from the Corso Umberto but very quiet when you want to get away from the bustle of town. Great hosts! Couldn't want for anything more. We did get quite lost on arrival though! Due to Porto Catania carpark being occupied by G7 traffic and closed to the public, we decided to drive to Casa Costa. If you are driving, I recommend you park the car in Porto Catania - you won't need it around town. We hadn't realised the roads would be so narrow, one-way and because of the cliff, one side of town is connected to the other by a tunnel. So as you walk up from the carpark, you see the Excellcior Hotel. Walk past the turn for that and before you go through the first arch into Corso Umberto, turn immediately right after the post office on to via Pietro Rizzo. This narrow street heads down, bends to left and after about 100 metres you should see Casa Costa on the right with that fabulous view down to the sea and Etna to your right. Enjoy!
Paola and Max welcomed us to their lovely apartment and advised on some good places to visit. We took up their recommendations and found these to be excellent choices. The apartment is lovely and there were many thoughtful additions e.g. sun cream/after sun, books etc. The balcony is beautiful with views over Mount Etna and the abundant countryside. There are citrus groves everywhere, and just beyond the apartment is a beautiful grapefruit tree - the first I have ever seen.
Taormina is beautiful, although very busy at Easter. The mornings are an excellent time to explore as it seems that Taormina is late to rise! There are an abundance of good restaurants, cafes etc. and the Greek theatre with its backdrop of Mount Etna is stunning. The beach below the cablecar was perfect.
We drove to Taormina from the Catania airport and Paola and Max were at the parking garage to meet us. They were welcoming and always available during our stay. Casa Costa was a lovely apartment with a beautiful terrace looking towards Mt. Etna which accommodated the four of us very well. It was located next to the main pedestrian street and close to all the marvelous historical sights. On Max's recommendation, we hired a driver for the day and drove up towards the top of Mt Etna, then visited a wonderful winery
We wouldn't hesitate to recommend Casa Costa
Beautiful, immaculate, well supplied apartment within walking distance of everything. Paola & Max were extremely helpful with recommendations for restaurant & historic sights all drawn out on a map. Highly recommend Tiramisu restaurant- great lunch, best tiramisu ever! Also C&G for chocolate & gelato. If stairs are a problem, this could be a difficult stay. For us welcome exercise after fabulous food!!
When we arrived on a late flight Paola and Max were there to greet us. They had brought in a lovely supply of groceries to start us of. The apartment is very handy for exploring - wonderful restaurants, shopping, groceries near by. The rental is very private and quiet.Paola and Max were a great source of local info and they did everything to make our stay hassle free and enjoyable. The apartment is very clean and comfortably furnished and we feel it was excellent value. Thank you so very much Paola and Max.
The perfect location. Close to all restaurants but in a quiet location. Very well equipped. A fantastic welcome from Max. Lots of provisions to give us a start . Simply wonderful.
Great stay and excellent location. Waking distance to everything- - car is not needed. Beautiful balcony with great views.
