The hotel has a great location-10 minute walk to the main street, two minutes into the garden, ten minutes to teatro greco, about half an hour to the beach Isola Bella & mazarro
Good hotel at a good price. I was afraid it would be noisy (near city center) but it was very quiet and peaceful. Nice terrace with a great view. Small minus breakfast - basic, cheese, salami, croissants and rolls. But not complained. Taormina is so beautiful that it is not worth to worry about small imperfections.Team very nice - both on reception and in the restaurant.

We stayed for 2 nights at this hotel, we had the most gorgeous views from our balcony out over the ocean and mountains. Quick walk into the centre and the Greek Theatre, a bit more reasonably priced just hat little bit out of the centre. We found the staff to be very warm and helpful and would stay here again definitely.

If you only visit one place in Sicily, it should definitely be Taormina. And if you want to make the most of the town and the surrounding areas without paying Taormina prices, then the Elios is the perfect place to stay.

Arriving in Taormina by bus, we were delighted to find that this hotel was signposted from the bus station and was only a few minutes' walk away. We were greeted at the door by Rosario who gave us all the information we needed about the hotel and the town, as well as the many excursions provided by (or booked through) the hotel.

We were given room 1 on the first floor which was at the front of the hotel, with a little balcony overlooking the busy road and with a limited sea view. The room (a double) was fairly small and the bed was extremely creaky so after persevering for a night we decided to ask for a better, quieter room. Rosario was very helpful and agreed to upgrade us to a triple on a higher floor and on the side of the building, for a very reasonable €25 for our remaining 2 nights.

What a difference! Our new room was spacious, better equipped (although the bathroom was a little impractical in its layout), with a fantastic view, which was only beaten by the spectacular sight of Etna and the coast beneath which could be viewed from the main hotel balcony at the front.

Breakfast was also served outdoors, on a smaller balcony round the side of the hotel. This consisted of tea or coffee and traditional Italian breads with a small selection of fruit and yogurts available from the buffet. The quality was reasonable but not up to the standard of other places we stayed at in Sicily.

Besides its fantastic location, just round the corner from the communal garden and a few minutes' walk from the centre of Taormina (including the Greek theatre and beautiful piazzas), the best thing about our stay at the Elios was the excursions on offer - we took a day trip up Mount Etna, just a small group of us in a jeep driven by our very friendly and knowledgeable guide, Giuseppe; then the next day, we enjoyed a beautiful boat trip around the bay, which included a swim in the crystal clear waters near the Isola Bella.

All in all (once we found the right room!), we had a fantastic stay at the Elios; we were sad to leave Rosario and his team behind, and if we ever return to Sicily, we'll definitely be back in Taormina - the island at its best!

Room Tip: Avoid the front if you want a peaceful stay

Good budget hotel. Very clean and helpful staff. Very close to bus station, greek theatre and cable car and many good restaurants. Easy to go to Isola Bella and Grotta Azzurra and it's a nice walk down to the beach. It's more practical to take the cable car back as there are many steps to climb. Breakfast was average. They supplied me with gluten free rusks on request. Beautiful sea view from room.

I chose this hotel as I was relying on public transport, and day excusions that leave from the bus station only about 7 minutes walk. My room has had a recent bathroom renovation and looks very slick and modern, however this does not blend with the old furniture in the bedroom. I found the bed quite hard and had to fold a blanket to sleep on. However all is trifle in comparison to the views from the terrace ...how spectacular! And all the staff are courteous and helpful. I would stay there again. Its a quiet street at night. The whole town is quiet. The town is enchanting, so go there. Its a good priced hotel for the budget minded. Restaurants closer to hotel not up on main road toursit strip are better value, and great food.

We had a great holiday staying at Elios hotel all the staff was very kind and helpful the hotel is very clean, Rosario is a very good driver and excellent guide too the excursions that we had with him was worth the money we spend especial when we went to Giardini Naxos and he suggest to take the boat ride to Isola Bella and La Grotta Azzurra,, and even the Etna excursion it was great. The breakfast was good. We had paid for half board and the restaurant that they had told us to go was excellent and not far from the hotel. Joanny from Malta
