Villa Angela is located in the upper part of Taormina so your view from any of the rooms is of the waterfront and Mt. Etna. They provide a very nice breakfast and lunch and you can get snacks and room service most of the time, Small but nice pool and sunning area. Free Internet! They also provide a shuttle to and from the central part of Taormina and you can book your times to go and return. The staff is superb!

Room Tip: Try to get the second floor - the balconys are nice.

Promised you a Miracle - a Simple Minds hit - well Jim Kerr, you certainly keep your promises!
We read the Trip Advisor comments prior to booking for nine nights in September. As usual we go with the overwhelming consensus of opinion, which was excellent and ignore the usual moaners. We just don't understand how people can complain about the location which is clearly described in the hotel literature and website. The breathtaking, stunning views from Villa Angela can only be synominous with high elevation. We visited a couple of other hotels in the town and whilst they were very good, and the views were very pleasant, Villa Angela is in a league of its own. Having lunch on the restuarant terrace with an uninhibited view of Mount Etna and Catania thirty miles away was heaven indeed.

On the Saturday night we were treated to a spectacular fireworks display going on in the town below and others in the villages below Etna. What an experience to be looking down on a fireworks display rather than up at it.

The shuttle bus service worked very well for us, always on time. The last one is 11.30 pm but that was no problem for us.

The room was spacious with a balcony the same size which was equiped with table and chairs and two sun loungers - with still plenty of room left.

A big thank you to all the staff who were fantastic and made our stay such a pleasure. Clara (who has brilliant English) and Erico in the restaurant, Charlie, Katherine and management staff and Andre. Santina and Elisa who tried their best to teach me Italian - still 'non capisco' !! Santina taught Daisy 'high fives' in Italian - (sorry Charlie).

In summary, a superb relaxing hotel, great food, stunning views and brilliant staff. However, we do have one complaint - we had to go home!!

We're already planning a return visit in June 2013.

My husband and I stayed at the Hotel Villa Angela and absolutely adored it.
Staff: extremely friendly and helpful.
Hotel shuttle bus: meant that we had the advantage of easy access to Taormina (which can be accessed via many steps or a twisty road if you choose the long walk) while the wonderful advantage of being high up for the view of Mount Etna and away from any noise or bustle.
Rooms: classy and very well kept.
Private room terrace: lovely to sit on and gaze at Mount Etna.
Etna erupted the first night we arrived! What a thrill. Make sure that you have a member of your party on 'Etna watch' at all times! It's easy to miss the show!
Dining: you can see the volcano from the dining room. Breakfasts were tasty. When we stayed at the hotel, dinner was not served every evening. Lots of restaurants in the town and one a five minute walk up the road from the hotel.
Taormina: a beautiful town to explore. Isola Bella is a very pretty island to visit. Giardino Publico is a pretty garden to wander round. Corso Umberto is the main street and a treat to meander along. The Greek ampitheatre is an amazing sight.
I would love to return to return to Hotel Villa Angela one day.

We stayed here towards the end of July 2012 and overall its great. The staff as mentioned by other trip advisor reviewers really are more than helpful, polite and friendly and really are a credit to the place. The view is more than breathtaking,Etna and the beautiful sea all in one it was second to none. I also have to mention the food at lunch was some of the best in the whole of our Italian trip we ate lunch there almost everyday all menu options were delicious! The balcony was our favourite part of the room, really spacious and with views to die for, only thing to mention is you can see through the trellis to the neighbours balcony as the ivy isn't too thick but given time I'm sure it will thicken up and provide a bit more privacy! The rooms were clean and although not decorated in our taste, we appreciated the quality, the only thing that let the room down was the bed which is so important for me. The mattress was ok but a little hard which I can deal with and is obviously subject to taste, but the options for the quilt really made for some uncomfortable nights; it was either a sheet, a thick furry blanket or a very thick and heavy sheet which I can only describe as curtain material. I would have really appreciated a thin quilt with a comfortable cotton lining as the options provided really were not up to standard. The big issue of the breakfast, well we thought it was ok but lacking only slightly. The fresh juice did taste a bit watered down which was dissapointing, add a few more fruit options such as bannanas and it would be near perfect! One final point would be we would have loved tea and coffe making facilites in the room. Although we have mentioned a few minor details, overall we loved the hotel, it has a lovely vibe and great staff.

Room Tip: All rooms have a huge balcony and amazing view!

we had never been to taormina before so we did not know the area, and because we were so high up it was very difficult for us to travel on foot, the shuttle bus did not offer us flexibility at night therefore making it difficult to go into town and come back late, the views were to die for, from our balcony, if we were to return, i would stay in naxos, because u have more restaurants at your doorstep, and a beautiful promenade,if i had any complaints about the hotel it would only be one, and that is not having tea making facilities in the room but overall the hotel was quite and clean.but remember u need to be very very fit if u r on foot to get to the town centre if u wish to remain spontaneous.
