We’ve just come back from our stay at Antica Dimora Grimaudo and it was lovely. It’s incredibly private and so quiet and if you live in a major city, like we do, and want to switch off, it’s perfect.
The villa itself is set on a big private plot of several hectares and high on a hillside overlooking a lush valley with some views of the sea from the edge of the property. It’s small and perfectly formed, decorated in a traditional rustic style and has all the modern conveniences that you might require such as a washing machine, dishwasher, microwave, A/C (though we didn’t need it), basic Sky tv package, music system and decent enough wifi.
There are only 2 downsides, one is that the drive up to the villa is a bit hair raising and it’s quite a bit further than the stated time to get into any of the lovely towns near by. That could be because we took the drive really carefully but it is basically a dirt track with hairpin bend stacked on hairpin bend. Secondly the mosquitos are pretty vicious. I learned my lesson pretty quickly and bought citronella candles and mosquito coils and also wore deet repellent all the time alongside long sleeves and trousers tucked into socks at night but still got bitten and we even got nibbled during the day.
I would definitely recommend this villa and would stay there again if I was visiting this part of Sicily.

This is a very beautiful and pristine villa in a very private location with beautiful grounds and magnificent views of Mount Etna. The private swimming pool is lovely. This is a wonderful place for a private and restful get away. It is a 20 to 25 minute drive to Taormina.
