We had a really nice stay at Del Corso and especially in Taormina. The hotel is small and pleasant with a great terrace overlooking Mount Etna. The town itself is very nice for strolling and romantic dinners. I would also recommend trekking to the even smaller town on the cliff above, both good exercise and a superb location.

I stayed at this hotel in March 2006 and the memory is still clear in my mind. After driving across Sicily and staying at various hotels along the way, I have to say that my stay at Hotel Del Corso was the most pleasing and memorable for all the right reasons. The staff was excellent and very helpful. The rooms were clean and comfortable. The breakfast was average, and provided a variety of food to choose from. The little patio upstairs was nice to come back to in the afternoon with a lunch purchased at one of the local shops. We ate outside while taking in an unobstructed view of Mt. Etna. Above all, the location was the best. Because the area is closed to auto traffic, you need to park in a garage outside the gates and walk in with your luggage. This hotel is right inside the gates...not far to walk in our out with your luggage (which was a big bonus at that point in our trip!). Maybe because we were there in early Spring, I found that the town was not crowded. Yes, it was a bit "touristy", but being a single female, I felt very safe walking alone after dark...there were other towns in Sicily that I would not have felt as secure.
All-in-all, if you're simply looking for a basic place to hang your hat while you tour the streets of Taormina, then this is the place. If you're looking for a 5 star luxury resort, then you need to keep looking.

Hotel Del Corso in Taormina, looked great before we travelled, and was very easy to book which was great.

We booked a room with a Balcony which we didn't get and having seen the balcony since, we were better without, they are tiny!!!

We were lucky to be on the third floor, with only one other room and the balcony/Breakfast terrace outside. we had use of the terrace after 11am which was lucky but also the hotels way of pleasing us when we asked about the balcony!!

The mini-bar in the room is actually a fridge, which the hotel haid they would change on the website but haven't yet done as they said they would as people could be confused into thinking that a 'minibar' would actually be full!!

The hotel offered a Beauty Kit..... i.e. the usual bits and pieces in the bathroom.

There was a charge for the bus and use of the 'partner beach' which one may have thought was included!!!

They are just small things which were annoying, however, the hotels location is it's saving grace. Located on Corso Umberto I is very handy and perfect walking distance around the town.

The 40% discount on the parking in Porto Catania was excellent but as the hotel has no parking of it's own due to super location, the parking was handy, when we found it.

Overall, worth a stay, ask for 3rd floor room use the terrace(great views of Etna)... unless you hear that other rooms are better

We have just returned from our stay in Taormina and the Hotel Del Corso. Hotel was situated on the main street, with views on the main street and the sea.Our room had view on the main street and Castelmola. Room was decent, spacious, clean, with the basic amenities (Private bathroom with shower, A/C, TV, mini fridge).
The price covered breakfast, which was served at a terrace on the third floor, with great view to the sea, inland and Mt. Etna. We could see the lava from Mt. Etna, as the volcano had erupted a few days earlier. Breakfast was decent, above average. A waiter was serving the coffee, and, by the 3rd day, they knew our habits and we had the preffered coffee without being asked.
The hotel is small, with a few rooms, but it was nice and clean. Although the room faced the main street, noise was not a problem, since the room was sound-proof. The hotel is situated on the main Street, Corso Umberto I, near the Cathedral, next to Porta Catania at the southern end of the street.

Taormina is very beatiful, with medieval, narrow streets and picturesque restaurants and bars at the sideways of the main street. Has many things to see and do, since it is an ancient town (built by the Greeks on 3rd century BC) and has many influences. If you are renting a car though, please note that the streets are narrow, without many parking places (although there is a big parking close to the hotel). Also main street (and many others) is inaccessible to cars as they are pedestrian zones with stairs. There are many beaches around Taormina, accessible by car or bus. There is also a cable way (funivia) taking you to the beach.

We paid €100 per night for a double room. Overall, Hotel Del Corso was a nice, decent hotel and Taormina is a great destination for holidays.

This was an excellent hotel in a brilliant situation on the Corso Umberto close to the Duomo and Wunderbar piazzas. A delicious breakfast buffet is served on a terrace overlooking Mt Etna. The staff were very friendly, efficient and helpful, and packed us a breakfast when we took an early train to Syracuse. Our room was great: seaview and balcony overlooking a quiet piazza. A jacaranda tree was in full bloom.
This hotel is very good value and fully deserves its 3 star rating. The building has character and the rooms are comfortable. The booking form on the hotel's website is easy to use and makes clear the various room options. We are astonished at some of the adverse comments listed below. We can highly recommend this hotel.

The Hotel is located on the main street of this little sicilian city.
We found it very confy and owned by one of the nicest person we met in this trip. We had lots of advice from her for what to do and where to go. The only sad thing was the weather. Not such hot as we expect. But we found a very good surprise on the friday of holy week. There was a very beautiful and religious procession made by women for the local Madonna.
Rooms are good, clean and very quite.
We had a great staying and we'll definately get back there.

The price for stay in Del Corso was outraged! The address of the hotel was on the main street, but our room was in a back street with steps which was not easy with luggages. The room was nice and clean. The breakfast was below standard compared with the price that we paid. We were a little bit disappointed with Toamina, because it was very touristic, A lot of young kids, trying to look posh. I feel like I was in party island Mikanos in Greece than in Sicily. Plus the beaches were horrible! They're very rocky and dirty with trash in the water, and also a lot of jellyfish. It's very crowded and we had a hard time to find a space just to lay down. One impressive thing was the Greek theater. We saw an orchestra concert there, and it was perfect! It's beautiful with nice view and the sound was great. We even heard people footsteps while we were listening the music. BEWARE! Wunderbar on the main street was a ripoff. We paid 12 Euros for 2 Granitas. Stay away from a place that don't tell you the price. There are a lot of places like that in Toamina. We prefer to eat at side street restaurants than the main ones. We ended up not spending time too much in Toamina. If I could choose to book the trip again, I would not stay in Toamina period.
