“Overpriced like everything else in Taorimna”
Reviewed 29 September 2012

I was not overly wowed by this place. Rooms....even superior ones....are small and food was only OK. It would be a good hotel anywhere else in Sicily but at Taormina's grossly inflated prices the 99 percent in my opinion just don't get enough for their money...but then I think that is the case all over Taormina. Above all I didn't like the 3 night minimum stay...that in and of itself should tell you all you need to know. You are a captive audience from that point on. One postiive is that it is off the main streets and somewhat more quite area but still close to activity. Staff is also helpful and friendly but can be phony at times. Also you may have read in guide books that they have a "hot tub"...NO. They have a Jacuzzi unheated and seemed to be being cleaned a lot of the time. If they have a sister relation with a pool with a hotel they don't advertise it.

I haven't written a review for quite a while but, credit where credit's due.... this place deserves a mention.
Location is perfect. The staff were brilliant, Elena & Antonio made us feel so welcome and tried to help with every detail. I must mention the breakfast cook too- Breakfast was delish and some nice varied dishes every day. Also our room was IMMACULATE! The cleaning lady deserves a pay rise!
LOVED IT- we got engaged on this trip and it will always hold a special memory.
Don't hesitate book now!!! :-) Thanks guys we'll return one day

After spending two days in Catania we moved to Taormina. And it was the best decision we could ever make! Taormina is just beautiful. An old city with an outstanding panorama - even the parkins spaces have amazing view to the sea!!!
Turning back to Villa Taormina: this is a small 4 stars hotels, with only several rooms, situated 2 minutes or 100 m away from the main street in Taormina. This means 2 things: you are very close to the heart of town and at the same time, you have all the silence and the quietness you need at night.
Nice rooms, not vey large (we stayed in room no 5 - I recommend it for its terrace and easy access to the larger terrace with the jacuzzi), with very strong air conditioning (there is a trick if you want to turn it off - ask at the reception), good bed, nice bathroom but nothing extraordinary about it.
Lovely breakfast served on the top floor of the building in a room with a splendid sea view. From this cosy room you can also see Etna.
People at Villa Taormina are excellent hosts, always ready to help, smiling and very polite & friendly.
I think i was lucky to stay at such a place in Taormina.
Strongly recommend and would go back there whenever possible :))

Room Tip: ask for a room with terrace. there are 3 such rooms from what i saw.

What a delight this privately run hotel is. Only 10 rooms but each room is individually decorated and furnished to a very high standard. The attention from the staff and owners is first class. We enjoyed wondeful breakfasts looking out onto Mount Etna.
The hotel is tucked away just off the main street and upon entering you find it adorned with antiques and fine furniture. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful and their local knowledge is superb.
We stayed for a week as our niece was getting married in a villa about 30 mins taxi ride away. We wanted to stay in Taormina as it really comes to life at night and is a wonderful place to walk around.
If you appreciate the finer things in life stay here.
One tip make sure you agree a price with the taxi drivers before you start your journey and always barter.
As for transfers from the airport to Taormina, because it is quite a distance from Catania airport we shopped around for transfers prior to our trip and chose Click Airport Transfer who I would highly recommend and you can book online at www.clickairporttransfer.com
Their service was 1st class and very reasonable compared to other companies.

Room Tip: We had a room overlooking the garden and plunge pool and it was tranquil and cool.

This was a superb find - only 10 rooms, very quiet, but only 50m from the Corso Umberto and Porta Catania. The small hotel says quality and refinement from the moment you go through the door yet at the same time the whole atmosphere is very friendly and the staff are wonderful. The panoramic views from the top floor breakfast are superb (as is the breakfast). We would go back again without question.

We usually hire a car wherever we go but on this occasion the hotel arranged a private transfer from Catania airport, given the 8pm arrival of the BA flight - a very good move - you do not want to be driving in Taormina! Take the tours to see the Greek & Roman sites - and also the local bus up to Castelmolle, both for the hairy ride and the views! Very good food at Le Naumachie and L'Arco dei Cappuccini and go to the local trattoria 'Tiramisu' for excellent traditional pasta and fish dishes. I&CT

We stayed at this gorgeous hotel, from the minute we arrived we were given lovely snacks and drinks which was great with 3 children. Our room gave us privacy with a sliding door and the chidren in the living area with a fantastic sea view. Breakfasts were sumptuous and plentiful and no job was too small for the attentive staff. A truly great family location as no car required and you can walk straight into the lovely old town with historic and modern restaurants and the square each night where all the local action is taking place. Great restaurants just be aware of the cover charge per person and make sure you agree this prior to eating anywhwere.

Room Tip: A suite overlooking the sea and garden
