I have now visited Pienza 3 times and it never disappoints. Pretty cobbled streets, interesting shops and galleries, gorgeous views, cultural treats, friendky locals....what's not to like.

Awesome little town with a ton of charm. A must see in Tuscany. Had one of the best pieces of pizza in my life here. A small restaurant with the sweetest tomatoes ever. I am not sure of the name. But, it was right in the historic centre across from the church. You can't miss it.

The visitor pays 7 euros for what is described as a guided tour of the palace. But the guide says almost nothing throughout the visit and merely holds up a numbered card at the doorway of each of a dozen rooms and instructs the visitor to key this number into an audio-guide to listen to a 2-minute commentary. The commentary is itself very limited, perhaps drawing attention to a fine ceiling, a beautiful fireplace or a particular painting, and you learn little about the history of the palace, why it was built or even about Pius II who built it. The guide's main function is to steer everyone out of each room as soon as the commentary has finished and to shut the door behind the last person. Then he holds up the next numbered card. This means that the whole visit takes only 20-25 minutes. No one was allowed to linger in the few rooms we were allowed to visit.

We actually got lost roaming around here! It was marvelous and incredible... we could have wandered around for days here! Lovely shops, delicious food, and the natives are friendly!

This is a small historical town. We were there for an hour. Could have stayed longer easily. There are some great views. Shopping is easy as the town is about 10 blocks by three. It is known for pecorino cheese and cheese tasting is everywhere. Other shops include leather, ceramics and more. We were very impressed by the Italian leather bags in the shops. You are bound to buy one as they are quite original compared to the wellknown brands. These are boutique shops. You may also not leave without buying some cheese wine balsam. It is that kind of town.
