We stayed a week in the convent at Novole and had a great time. The place is beautiful and peaceful, with vegetables from the garden, wine made by Luccio himself, and some entertaining cats, dogs and horses. It was perfect for us during a very hot week. There is a lot to do in the area, but we enjoyed lingering around the house with a little tub for our oldest (2), a cool house for the youngest (3 months), and Cortona close enough for icecreams for the whole family.

novole is in an absolutely perfect place.driving through the rolling hills of tuscany is a feast for the eyes. you cannot have enough windows for this. as we turned on to the entry of novole our tiny car seemed a perfect size for this sweet tree lined path. to my right there was a barn and a couple of horses. to my left, a small grove of lovely olive trees. and then i could see novole. a converted convent that is just amazing. tucked in the tuscan hills with a view of stunning nature, if it is an authentic countryside experience that you are looking for, look no further.i stayed in the "cottage" and could not have been more pleased.the nights are so peaceful there. no city lights, or the sound of cars. no cell phone or telephone rings. just the sound of crickets and trees blowing. as i awoke the next morning, i made a cup of tea and walked out to the viranda, stopping to pick a few grapes right above my door. delicious.basking in the sunshine, taking in the beauty of novole and it's surroundings, it makes one wonder....how can i quit my job and move to this divine place. ahhh reality.but there is right now. if you have the time have a chat with the owner, lucio. a soft spoken man, wonderful host, and a very talented phtographer. i certainly hope to go back.

Looking for a quiet, but close-to-citylife place? Then you find it: Convento di Novole, near the historic city of Cortona.
We spent 10 days in this beautiful farmhouse, surrounded by mountains and forest, enjoyed the clean air, the silence, and the pure nature itself. We felt like jumping back in time by decades, or even centuries - imagine, this is a place built in the middle ages!
On the other side, appartments are authentic but comfortable and well-equipped. The landlord (Lucio) is a very kind and genial person, interested in his guests but not intrusive at all. He fluently speaks English, so you will not have any problem with communication.
In the nearby cities you can find the most services you might need. There are many places to visit in the proximity.
All in all, we can, and surely will, to recommend Novole to anyone: families with children, pets, solo persons, or even to larger groups (up to 10-12 persons; ask Lucio).

I had the pleasure of staying at Novole for 6 weeks in the autumn of 2006 during the olive harvest. Imagine the setting sun over the golden hills of Tuscany covered with olive trees, weighed down with the fruit, the music of the Italian language as friends and family converse, sing and laugh while sitting skillfully in the trees as they pick. Then to retire into the beautiful convent to share some wine and beautifully fresh food from the garden at Novole. You will be delighted by your host, Lucio's sense of humour and warm welcome to the best part of Tuscany. I look forward to my next visit to Novole, I will always go back.
