We had a great time cooking with Alessandra. We started the day with a coffee/pastry within Cortona, and talked about what we were going to cook that day. We then walked around Cortona to a couple different places and shopped for food and meats. Then we all got in Alessandra's van and drove down out of Cortona to buy fruits and vegetables. We then got to her house and started cooking. She demonstrated each part that we had to do, and then everyone got a chance to try making it. We made some delicious appetizers, ravioli, main meat course, and dessert. The whole time we got to talk with Alessandra about cooking, Italy, her family and anything in between. She was very friendly and spoke great English. We spent all day with her eating, drinking wine and cooking. It was a bit of a different experience for us because there were 4 people in the class cooking, and 2 of the people's husbands that were there to share to meal. Everyone was friendly but it might have felt different if everyone was involved in cooking, or it was only the people cooking. Overall loved to the food and immediately bought a pasta maker when we got home to make our own pasta! We were even able to replicate it which shows how much we learned that day.

Thank you for your nice words, it was a great day indeed!

I just feel like I need to punctualize the fact that, as you said, it was the husbands of the participants to the class that came later to eat only. This is NOT an option that is open to anyone.
Thank you again, and please send me pictures of your pasta creations!

We were given this as a gift and didn't know what to expect. On arrival we meet Alessandra for a coffee and breakfast in Cortona and she explained the day. Took us to the local butcher and gardens(vegetable shop) before ending up at Alessandras house to begin cooking.

From here we experienced an honest day in an Italian home with great food, wine and plenty of laughs and good conversation. We learnt some great skills that my wife and I can't wait to get home and try.

If you're looking for a typical cooking classroom setup this isn't for you this is for people wanting to experience more than just the cooking. Thanks Alessandra for letting us into your home and making out gift an awesome one, heart ravioli and all :)

We had a very full day of Tuscan Italian cooking. Alessandra was wonderful and very fun to be with. All ages enjoyed the class (15-50+) and we learned so much. She was accommodating with our large group of 13 and let the non-cookers join us later just to eat. The food was excellent (hard to believe we were able to make it), the laughter and learning was even better. Alessandra's day of cooking was a true Tuscan experience and we enjoyed it all. The day after cooking with Alessandra we were waiting at the train station and her son made a point of coming to us and letting us know that the platform had changed for the arrival of our train. Just shows how personal her connection is with the clients she invites into her home. Thanks to Sybil for recommending this great experience.

On our recent trip to the Cortona area, we were hoping to learn more about Italian cooking. Our day with Alessandra was exactly what we were looking for. We first met with Alessandra at a coffee shop in Cortona. We were introduced to the other guests who were from Holland. Together, we visited a local butcher and produce market. She then took us to her home. With the other guests she taught us to make pasta (my first time!), frittata, beef/pork bolognese, herb crusted pork, farrow salad, tiramisu, and other dishes. She also explained the regional differences in Italian cooking. This was truly an educational and memorable day. Thank you Alessandra!

My wife and I lived in Italy and Sicily for five and a half years but that was a long time ago and we always wanted to return for a visit. We had the opportunity to return in May 2014 with our friends and wanted to show them something special. I contacted my friend Sybil Haynes of Dolce Vita Adventures (http://www.dolcevitaadventures.com) and she was able to arrange the cooking class with Alessandra Federici. This class was on of the highlights of our 18 day tour through Italy.

My wife is a very good Italian cook but we were all so happy to learn new recipes and cooking techniques from Alessandra.. Alessandra is a real gem and we thoroughly enjoyed sitting down with her to eat what we created and to talk with her about the food and Italian culture in general.

Given the opportunity, we would gladly schedule another visit to Alessandra.
