This is a fantastic hotel close by to Cortona and the beauty of Umbria and Tuscany. The staff is outstanding and unbelievably helpful and competent. The Wimpoles have created the perfect setting and the rooms are large and wonderfully decorated with all the amenities you would expect from a world class hotel.
The setting is terrific as well and the food and food service is wonderful. I would give this hotel an A+ for everything that they do.

Room Tip: The Junior Suites are large and very, very comfortable.

We just spent the most wonderful week at Villa di Piazzano. We brought our 7 month old baby to Italy and couldn't have picked a more perfect place to stay with her. The entire staff was receptive to having a baby and went out of their way to make sure that we had everything we needed to make all of our stays as relaxing as possible.

The staff was incredibly helpful in working with us each day to plan our day trips. With their help we were able to have daily Italian adventure.

We highly recommend staying at Villa di Piazzano with our without a baby!

Two years ago we organized our marriage at this fabulous location, and on our return for a weekend stay-over this year, we were welcomed again by the super-friendly staff. Together with my wife and our 10-months old daughter we had a relaxing stay and a superb service. The chef surprised us again with great tuscan food. We will come back again...thanks for the hospitality Alessandra.

Room Tip: The 'Casina delle Rose' is a romantic personalized room, located next to the swimming pool...

This hotel is a regular stopover for me when in the southern Tuscany area and as always combine style, charm and service with spacious rooms, wonderful surroundings and a great breakfast.

I would heartily recommend the Villa di Piazzano to anyone!

Room Tip: Book as early as possible!

We drove up the drive of cyprus trees to the most magical location. The villa looked over green tree covered hills and apart from other villlas a few yards away, there were no other houses or roads to be seen from the terrace. Loved the large rooms and found it so lovely with drinks ,canapes and a very classy buffet and barbie out on the terrace. Breakfast out on the terrace was a wonderful start to the day, just not mad about the coffee. The hotel is run by an Italian couple and their Aussie father was on hand to help. I so wished we could have stayed longer, but we will just have to go back. The local town on Cortone is the most enchanting place with so much history.

Room Tip: All the rooms I saw were large and lovely, one even had a four poster. There was a small house by th...

It was an emotional moment for all our team last week when your group arrived. We had started organizing and working on your stay many months ago, under the skillfull guidance of Irene and Suzy, and so it felt like an accomplishment when you finally arrived and all went smoothly. This morning you spurred me to do something which I had never done in 12 years of running the business. I walked into the breakfast room, sat down and poured myself what we call "American coffee". As an Italian (at least partly), this was a big sacrifice for me, and I can only agree with you: the taste was not one of my favourites. We are so indoctrinated in Italy with espresso and cappuccino that we find it difficult to understand or appreciate other types of coffees. Nonetheless, our international clientele requires that "American coffee" be served at breakfast. Our quest has now begun to identify a better coffee blend and if you ever return you may assist us in determining whether we have reached our goal.

Loved everything about his place. The staff is wonderfully friendly. The property is obviously a labour of love. The entire site is beautiful.

Every room is different, has its own character, and feels like home. We had a stunning view of the pool and hills behind.

The staff is fantastic. Not old-school formal service, mind you, but really friendly and accommodating. When we were there, the regular wait staff was training a young guy to serve, and it was fun to watch.

And the food in the dining room was some of the best meals we've had in Italy. (Try the pasta was asparagus and rabbit). The dining room was also beautifully renovated.

The villa is about ten minutes drive out of Cortona, so you might not want to stay here if you don't have a car.

And don't use the conditioner they supply. It sucks. Trust us on this.

But we'd definitely come back! Could be the highlight of our trip!

Thank you for sharing you thoughts and experience at the hotel. We are always interested in learning what our guests really enjoy about the property and what they feel needs improvement. I was little surprised about your comment on the hair conditioned not because I doubt for one second what you are saying, but simply because nobody has ever raised it in the past. Some guests have commented on the fact we offer hair conditioner, quite uncommon in Italy, but nobody has ever shared their views on the quality. In fact, many guests come to the gift shop to buy the larger containers to bring home as gifts and some have shared positive views on the shampoo and soap but that's about it. So I'm glad you've raised this point and we are open to other guests' comments on this subject to understand whether we should be looking at substituting some of the products in our courtesy kit.

We spent two weeks in Italy in May 2012 and of all the places we stayed, Villa di Piazzano was the nicest. We arrived midday and immediately had our cooking class with the on site chef, Gabrielle. Our two hours with her were one of the highlights of our entire trip and the meal she prepared for us was probably the best we had in the whole two weeks. While we were only here for one night, we were astounded by the beauty of the villa and the grounds. We can't imagine a nicer place to stay in the Cortona area. We'd give it a 10 out of 10.

Thank you for the 10 out 10! It is a pity that you were only with us for a very short time, but you participated in one of the best activities we have on offer, namely, the cooking lesson offered by our chef Gabriella. Last winter we spent all our time carrying out some major improvements to the property and your review leads me to think that this does not go unnoticed. So thank you for letting this transpire. We hope to see you again.
