“A Beautiful Place.”
Reviewed 11 October 2013

We spent a yoga week at Villa Ugo, and it was the perfect place to be on a retreat to practice and relax.
It is very beautiful, with wonderful decorated spaces, it is peaceful with surrounding pine trees and with access to many beautiful surrounding walks and up into Cortona through olive groves and forest paths.
The swimming pool was great and the incredible food.
Ugo gave a wonderful welcome and looked after us all so well and am looking forward to returning soon, a perfect place for a holiday or any quiet retreat workshops.

we stayed at Villa Ugo for 1 week for a yoga course. we had a wonderful time, Ugo and his wife were so helpfull and made our stay very comfortable. the location is very special, a beautiful and peaceful location. the villa was renovated recently and the room was fabiolous, with a small privet garden.
it is just a few minutes from cortona and half an hour from Arezzo, beautiful places to visit.
it is the perfect place for yoga and for relaxation. we are looking forward to go back next year.

There are simply not enough adjectives to describe Villa Ugo- Villa Nello. The setting is amazing, quiet, beautiful views and a superb villa with pool to boot!
I had visited Villa Ugo with my late husband and friends some years ago and we stayed at Villa Liliana prior to the renovations. So when we started to plan a family reunion that spans 4 family's, spread over 2 continents, there was just no contest, and Villa Nello won hands down.
We spent 2 amazing weeks here, and enjoyed the local cuisine, sightseeing of the various hill towns and quietly relaxing in the villa.
Can't wait to come back.
Thanks again Ugo the trip was very memorable and we hope to see you again in the not too distant future.

We spent a week in Villa Ugo, so beautiful and peaceful. The owners looked after us very well and the meals were amazing. I am looking forward to going again with my family. Easy to visit the surrounding beautiful cities when you have a car.

Villa Ugo was recommended to us by a colleague in 2011 and our first stay then certainly lived up, if not exceeded our expectations. During our holiday we stayed at Villa Lilliana (before the renovation) and were very impressed with the villa, hospitality and location. We liked it so much that two years later we decided to get married in Cortona and hold the reception and wedding party at Villa Ugo. Our friends and family stayed with us at Villa Lilliana and Villa Orlando and it was absolutely fantastic! Both villas had all the amenities we needed with each their own swimming pool which was great for the kids during the day. The views of both villas are breathtakingly beautiful and the interior design is rustic and authentic, true Tuscan style with five star standard. Ugo and Nicoletta are the most friendly, genuine and hospitable hosts we have ever come across. Our wedding was so well prepared and the delivery of our needs and requirements discussed prior to the wedding was beyond amazing! Nicoletta's impeccable taste transformed Villa Ugo into a dream wedding venue which was beyond beautiful. Our wedding guests enjoyed a gorgeous dinner by their in-house cook Ada whose cooking is simply perfection using only fresh local ingredients. We also have to mention that the whole family has been helpful with both their sons being kind and attentive prior to the wedding and making sure that our wedding requirements were understood and met. Our wedding has been the most magical day in our life and this is for a great part thanks to Villa Ugo.
We cannot recommend Villa Ugo enough, whether you are looking for a pristine, luxurious and exclusive stay or looking to celebrate a big event in your life. This is the only place to stay in the area of Cortona. We will be returning to Villa Ugo in the years to come. Grazie mille Ugo & Nicoletta!

This was our first trip to Tuscany, so we cannot compare with other offers in the area, but we are well-traveled, so know what to expect in general. And boy, Villa di Nello was nearly flawless. I honestly cannot really fault it. Yes, the driveway is steep (yet I had no problem with my large car (4m80)). No, the place isn't built for tall people (I'm close to 2m tall and bumped my head about once a day). And yes, the internet and cellular connection are what they are (seriously, who gives...). But the rest is simply breathtaking!

Calm and quiet, yet very luxurious. The interior is beautifully decorated, with lots of style and a personal touch. The airconditioned rooms were blissful, after a scorching hot day. The swimming pool is awesome, our kids loved it. And last - but certainly not least - the host and his family are amongst the most warm and heartful people I have ever met... We had a little trouble locating the place, so the son came to the rescue. The host itself showed us around for a day, visiting a nearby winery (La Fortuna, you should surely visit as well!). And his wife and him even invited us for a drink at their house. Way beyond of what was expected!

A week was too short, we will _definitively_ be visiting again and I have zero doubt to recommend this property to anyone.

Ugo, thanks for an unforgettable vacation!

Room Tip: Villa di Nello (also sometimes known as Casa Giada, apparently) is very private, so ideal for those...

We recently stayed in this lovely villa for a week. I wish it could have been longer but we had more of Italy to see. Villa Lilliana was very comfortable with a large private pool a short walk from our front door. When we arrived the air conditioning was not working but Ugo made sure that by nights end it had been fixed - he was very accommodating in making our stay a pleasant one. The view of the Val di Chiana is wonderful to wake up to every morning as were the chirping of birds! You are in the country for sure, but only a short distance from the lovely town of Cortona. This was a perfect place to stay and we highly recommend it.

Near the center of the aptly-named Golden Valley of the Chiana River (the Valdichiana), some 400 meters above sea level but just a few kilometers from the town Cortona, Villa Ugo encompasses every quality of Tuscan charm, simplicity and rural beauty. Since 1890, my family, the Sabatini’s have lived in the 16th century Villa Ugo, surrounded by over 11 hectares of olive groves and vineyards. The groves were once divided into three fields, where secondary houses were inhabited by tenant farmers. These three Villas also date, in part, to the 16th century, and I have carefully and beautifully restored them while maintaining the style, history and culture of the area and mindfully adding all the modern amenities and comforts. During your visit, you'll enjoy almost intoxicating peace, glorious vistas, and direct contact with nature in these three independent villas, Casa Liliana, Casa di Nello and Casa di OrlandoMy family provides a personal welcome to you, and discreetly ensures that you will be well looked-after during your stay, catering to your needs, and assisting with most any requirement to guarantee your visit is a memorable one.Come join us here at Villa Ugo, with all of Eastern Tuscany, western Umbria and central Italy nearby to welcome your relaxation and exploration!Ugo Sabatini ... more   less
