“Great Food and Friendly Service”
Reviewed 30 April 2013

Having already sampled La Bucaccia we were worried we wouldn't find food as good as that on our stay. We were wrong. Although not as fancy or as big a menu as La Bucaccia, Tempero has to be our second favorite restaurant in Coronta. On a wet day the warm and inviting restaurant and friendly staff made us feel very welcome and the food was fantastic. We went for meat dishes but on leaving pasta dishes were being brought to other tables, having seen these we will be back, we want to try them!!!

“You must known il Tempero in Cortona!”
Reviewed 13 January 2013

We go here since 2007 every year! Good food, good price, good place and fabulous welcome. Limonello is the best that we never drink. So you can't go to cortona and don't go to IL TEMPERO!
Thank's to Mara and her team!
See you next year,

“Delightful Dining/Friendly Service”
Reviewed 7 November 2012

My wife might say that I like any restaurant where the staff praise and pretend to understand my halting Italian. But, in fact, we both liked Tempero sufficiently to return for a second excellent meal. And as I write about this ristorante, I am surprised by how very much we enjoyed ourselves--it was an easy place to be.

On both occasions, we visited Tempero for pranzo. The meals were exceptional: I can still see and nearly taste the cinghiale e pici that I enjoyed on our first visit, along with a quite drinkable and modest chianti (half bottle); I recall that my wife refused to share her dolce, a kind of panna cotta generously doused with a dark chocolate sauce. Our server was quick and responsive to our needs, the hostess engaged us in conversation, other guests in the restaurant chatted with us. And finally, it's worth noting, our table was elegantly set, colorful, of an adequate size, comfortable.

On our second visit, we took a table in the terrace dining area, and once again, we received excellent service. This time we both had i secondi piatti--grilled veal, with a simple vegetable salsa--squisito! This may have been the best meal I was served during our stay in Tuscany. Grilled vegetables accompanied the veal (veramente al puntino); the entire meal remains a vivid memory.

I should add that we found Cortona to be our favorite hill town: friendly and helpful people, two fine museums, amazing and marvelous vistas, and from the parcheggio an escalator! So I am happy to recommend enthusiastically both Cortona as a place for gentle walks and Tempero as a place for a very pleasant dining experience.

“Can find better easily”
Reviewed 30 October 2012

We had an off-season visit here, and even if service was kind, the food here is average... Or if I want to be honest it was terrible for that price. Both dishes we ordered were OVERsalted, nothing special, desserts were at least a few days old from the fridge with toppings from the supermarket. One would expect way more from a restaurant in Tuscany. Luckily we've found a perfect one nearby

“Open Monday night, but hard to recommend”
Reviewed 1 October 2012

We ate here on a Monday night when many restaurants in Cortona are closed, though you'll find a few by wandering around the main street. Menu sounds great, but we were a bit underwhelmed with our pasta dishes, that frankly were mediocre at best when compared to their descriptions (especially in this area where the food Often exceeds expectations).
What really surprised us was the cold bruschetta: cold, not just cool, COLD bread and similar chopped tomato. We asked the chef, and the owner, about this and were told this is the way they do it (prepare it early in the day). New for us; never had cold bruschetta, but everyone has their way. Had to ask for bread and oil; also a surprise. Never happened to us in other restaurants here, but again, everyone has their way. Nice outdoor seating, Cortona prices. Very Hard to recommend, even on Mondays.
