“Charming professional country hotel”

Stayed four nights in July. Excellent junior suite room, full of character and well finished. Professional staff. Main restaurant over-formal. Beautiful location and views. Very charming and would advocate it.

Room Tip: Junior suites in building away from main hotel building.

If quality and attention to detail are the keys to a succesful business, this place has it all. The setting is beautiful in vines, olive and fruit trees, and the garden is superbly manicured, Our room was well decorated and comfortable. The Michelin star for the dining room is well deserved. The service is attentive and friendly. The constant presence of the owners on the site, communicates to all their passion to offer an unforgettable experience in hospitality.

Had we known how good this place was, we would have booked to stay longer...but for sure, we shall return. By the way, breakfast too was outstanding.

Room Tip: Book longer than shorter...you will not regret it.

We loved our stay at il Falconiere - our room was full of Tuscan charm and history and very spacious. We had a romantic double room which had a little outdoor courtyard which was quaint. The only thing we found was that the restaurant felt a little too formal but otherwise a perfect location overlooking the Tuscan countryside with Cortona on the nearby hilltop. The staff were kind to allow us to have a bottle of locally bought wine and cheeses at one of the many discreetly placed table and chairs in the garden near the main villa. The pool area was also great with beautiful Tuscan countryside views and bar service if required. The location to Cortona was as expected, a 10 minute car drive right into the middle of town. A bit windy on narrow roads which we chose not to negotiate after having a few wines in town. The local taxi service it seems was a bit scarce. However the hotel can and did arrange for a driver to drop us into Cortona and pick us up to whom we paid by a tip.

We stayed 2 nights in this beautiful and very romantic Relais & Chateaux hotel. It lies in a very quiet location, in the middle of an immense private garden.
We booked a beautiful Junior Suite (including a bedroom, a living room and two generous bathrooms), which was very nicely decorated, and had a direct access to the garden and one of the 2 swimming pools (which were unfortunately not heated).
The staff was very polite, and always ready to help. Breakfast was of good quality (although there were a few ants on the cakes), as well as the food in the Michelin-starred restaurant.
All in all, a very good hotel, although expensive (like many hotels in this very touristic part of Italy).

Room Tip: I recommend to book a Junior Suite or a Suite, which are more spacious and allow to really enjoy the...

If you are planning a trip to Cortona, the is the best place to stay. 10 minutes drive to Cortona, views, huge green territory, grapes, smiles, open air swimming pool and a smaller one with jacuzzi - all there. rooms are charming with the original pieces of furniture. There is a corner in a dining room where you could find a very good selection of chinese teas - very rare for the european hotel. And the tea cones from the jars, not from the tea bags. The only negative impression i could remember - lots of bees drinking water from the jacuzzi getting very jumpy when you turn it on.

But the restaurant leaves a dual impression. they say this is a star-michellin place. I could not confirm that - my michelin was from 2008, the place was not there at a time. the food is very well and creative, the local house and regional vines are fantastic, but the overall impression like you take part in 1975 BBC Fawlty Towers episode "Gourmet night". All original characters are there, the captain is a twin brother to John Kleese. It took us 3,5 hours for a dinner, and 2,5 for a lunch next day - most of the time waiting. Unfortunately they put a vine on ice 20 meters away from the table so you have to look for the waiter all the time to have some more. Finally they took someone else's bottle of different wine and mixed with ours.

Another strange thing about food - the food is great, but in 10 days none of us could not remember what we had in particular. And EUR 400 for a dinner for 2...

As a conclusion - you must stay in the hotel and try a restaurant...but only once. And if you thinking should you got just for a dinner - please don't.

Although our time in Tuscany started a bit roughly with adjusting to the insects of the area, it was an absolutely wonderful experience. We stayed in a beautiful villa near the vineyard with outstanding views from all directions. The dinners were superb and the staff so helpful and genuine. It is clear that this property means a lot to the owners as they have put attention into many details. The only suggestion is to make sure that the housekeepers close the doors behind them to prevent any bugs from getting into the rooms and to make sure the air conditioning works the first night rather than the second. A truly wonderful experience that we (a family of four with two teenagers) will never forget. Hopefully we will return soon to our favorite spot in Italy!!

Room Tip: Our villa near the vineyard was perfect for a family of four.

First of all, this is not my first experience in Relays group, and I always liked very much their property, old style furnishing, great garden and authentic atmosphere. I believe that it was very hard job to became such a perfect condition place from the ruins. I can see every angle to handworked with love and enthusiasm. Thanks very much to all of owners to do it so properly. That is why I am so sad to feel absolutely vice-versa quality of service. 3,5 hours to get a dinner with 3 courses, 2,5 hours to finish the lunch with 2 courses. Yes, I can sit even more, but just seeping the wine, not wait the result of super-alchemic laboratory of meal creating. Once we was serving others wine, another time the espresso was ordered twice, no waiter was waiting at time when we needed exactly, food arrived - wine not to be added, and opposite. After all, the mattress in the room exactly not comfortable, it is non-orthopedic, I am interior designer and can recognize. To have a shower you should wait about 10 minutes of hot water started. It is normal for old property, just a warning. May be I am too much neurotic kind, could not relax and calm....
