Hard to find, in the middle of the mountains, with a long way to go, not worth going there, and you don't eat well...............

“Delicious Italian cuisine in a charming family restaurant.”
Reviewed 27 November 2013

We stayed a few days in "La Coccinella" a farmhouse nearby and had a great time eating and chatting with Marco and his family at their restaurant.

They were very helpful with us, preparing meal at any time of day and even preparing food to take away.

“In the middle of nowhere - but worth the trip”
Reviewed 19 September 2013

We travelled from Cortona and it was quite a drive, very hilly and not easy to navigate, but the trip was worth it.
The antipasti mixed platter was a feast - it consisted of deep fried vegetables, salami, cheese, melon and so much more. We can highly recommend the Bistecca - which was excellent, the portions were huge. The pasta cooked al dente, the vegetables fresh from the vegetable garden, and typical farm, fresh food.
The Scallapini al Limone had a little too much sauce.
The menu is seasonal and dependent on what is currently available, but the choice was very good.
We would highly recommend this restaurant but take your time getting there, and be prepared for an interesting drive.

“Not the easiest to find but worth the effort.”
Reviewed 5 September 2013

After a very early start and a fairly long drive from Rome, we arrived at our villa on the Tuscan/Umbrian border and, as it was Sunday and we were unable to pick up provisions, decided to find somewhere to eat that evening. Following a recommendation in the property's guest book, we headed along the winding, multiple-hairpin route to Acquaviva and managed to get a table in the "back" room before the Sunday night crowd arrived. What a delight! We were charmed by the delightful Casucci family and their genuine appreciation for their customers but we completely knocked out by the quality of the food. Even the wine, by the litre carafe, was delicious and exactly what you always hope to find on holiday but actually rarely do.

I had a Fiorentina steak which was utterly sublime. Cooked medium rare but with a delicious caramelised sear, it was big enough to feed the proverbial army. The mixed antipasti that preceded it were fresh, genuinely local and quite delicious. The rosemary and olive oil flat bread was outstanding and Marco, with his delightful front of house English, helped make it a memorable evening.

In the past few weeks I've eaten at Maze (good), Le Gavroche (sublime) and eaten some truly memorable meals and, I have to say, that this evening's meal at Acquaviva - given the overall experience - rates with them as an occasion and a meal to cherish.

If you're ever in the are do NOT miss it.

“Yum!”
Reviewed 30 August 2013

We ate here after reading the reviews on tripadvisor. We knew we wanted to eat at an agriturismo because the food is always wonderful and the people are friendly. When we arrived early, afraid we would get lost on the way, they invited us in to sit by the fire and wait till the restaurant was open and even offered us wine. The owners are absolutely the friendliest people I have come across and the food was amazing! I loved everything about the place. The antipasto della casa and the bread were my favorite parts of the meal. I would definitely go back if I happen to be in the area again.
