The hotel director saved the day when he alerted us to a rail strike scheduled the day of our departure. He painstakingly researched which line we would have to connect to, where to catch the train and what time we needed to arrive at the station in order to get a refund on tickets previously purchased (the line that was on strike). We loved everything about this hotel: friendly and very accommodating staff; lavish breakfasts and cocktail hour and a beautifully appointed room kept spotlessly clean.

Room Tip: Front rooms have beautiful views; subject to noise

We stayed here five nights in May. The staff was gracious, friendly and always willing to help with anything. Everyone speaks English very well. The breakfast was wonderful and they provided tea snacks in the late afternoons. Our bed was comfortable and linens were high end. It was a treat to finally have a great bathtub and sparkling clean bathroom. We were within walking distance to the main piazzas and other sights. These people understand customer service!!! The cost was a bit more, but worth it.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a view of the countryside.

There were 4 in our group (2 seperate rooms) and the service was outstanding. Iulia and Luana were the most service oriented front desk staff I have every encountered at a hotel. They made us want to come back and stay again at this same hotel. OUTSTANDING!!! Gina and Marvin shared duties of breakfast and nightly bar service and they were equally service oriented. The breakfast selection was incredible with local meats and cheese and they always had a wonderful supply of fresh baked goods. This was the best breakfast on our trip and we stayed in Rome and Sorrento on this trip also. I cannot say enough about the staff. They were absolutely the best. The only downside were the firm beds which took a little getting use to. I absolutely would stay at this hotel again and I will recommend this hotel to anyone I know that is traveling to Italy.

The staff here is excellent - friendly and helpful. The room was fine - large, clean, and charming with great views out over the lake. Breakfast was good (hint - you're not just limited to what's on display - you can have eggs cooked to order). That said, it's a hike uphill to town on narrow roads with no sidewalk, there's no parking (if you're lucky, you'll find a spot on the street nearby), and it was quite expensive. But all in all, a very nice hotel.

What a lovely hotel! So pretty and the view from my window was breathtaking. Service was wonderful and breakfast was delicious. Would stay there again and recommend to others.

My husband and I were lucky enough to get married in the Town Hall of Cortona in September and we thrilled to have chosen the Villa Marsili for our stay, before heading to Florence to continue our honeymoon. We had a perfect wedding day and a perfect stay at this wonderfull hotel.

Our room was decorated lovely, very clean and good size and what a joy to wake up to the stunning view every morning. Great bathroom also. We had such an amazing time in Cortona and made all the better for our stay at this hotel.

We can not thank Luana and Julia enough for their help, they are so warm and welcoming, and both have a great sense of humour. We have never experienced service of this quality from staff at any hotel before, and doubt we ever will.

It was so difficult to leave Cortona and the Villa Marsili not to mention the outstanding local restuarants, we can not wait to to return.

Cortona, Villa Marsili and it's wonderful staff hold a very dear place in our hearts and always will.

We did a lot of research before choosing our hotels for our trip to Tuscany, and it paid off. After five nights in San Gimignano, we moved to Cortona for four nights. While we weren't as impressed by Cortona as San Gimignano, the Villa Marsili was amazing. The staff was warm and wonderful, and the suite was incredible. We has a bedroom, sitting room, and bath, each of which were nearly as large as some complete hotel rooms. The view was amazing. The breakfast was typical, but good. While we weren't all that impressed by eastern Tuscany and Umbria, it's hard to imagine a nicer place to stay. If you have reason to be in the area, the Villa Marsilli is a great place to stay.
