“This is a terrific hotel!”
Reviewed 15 June 2014

Thank you for all the trip advisor reviews of this hotel...it met all my expectations and was a delightful hotel. Everyone was extremely helpful, even parking our car for us and then returning it to us when we left Cortona. We, once again, rented too large a car and could not manage it so well and were very happy not to have to deal with it and could enjoy Cortona instead. The breakfast was wonderful and there was a wine tasting in the evenings which was very convivial. The view from our room was of Lake Trasamino and it's huge valley and was magnificent. The whole hotel was extremely clean and there was great attention paid to the details of housekeeping.
The hotel recommended La Grotta and it was very, very good. Also, A friend in the area took us to Trattoria Dardano and that was also very good.
I depend a lot on trip advisor recommendation ,as we are independent travelers, and decided to write more reviews. Many folks complain about room size in Italy and my advice is to request a room with 2 beds, instead of a king or queen. Even if it's 2 twins pushed together I feel you have a good chance of getting a larger room. It does not always work that way, but worth a try. Villa marsili was definitely a super choice for us and we are frequent travelers in Italy and Europe.

This hotel was almost perfect, the room was however so small that it tainted our stay.
Most annoyingly they were not full and they didn't offer us the opportunity to upgrade for a larger room at the check in process.

Room Tip: Upgrade for a larger room

I just want to say that this hotel is definitely worthy of a 5 star treatment for a small town! Amazing breakfast buffet, cocktail hour and late night Vin Santo and cookies!! Smiles where ever you walk. Personal touch from everyone. By the second day, they know what your preferences are and they cater to that. Very clean and cozy. Close walk to all Piazzas and great recommendations for restaurants! Will be back for sure!

We wanted to stay in Cortona because my grandson is going to school there. After seeing all the great reviews we thankfully stayed in this great hotel. The staff is remarkable and makes your stay so special. Room #20 is adorable. Totally modern bathroom and the room decorated like you were entering a family parlor. It's a large room and very comfortable and the view is amazing. Get ready to walk up a hill when you want to go to the main part of town, but it won't take you more than a few minutes. Definitely the place to stay if you want to visit the old city.

I have been in 44 countries and over 100 cities worldwide but never met such a friendly and genuine staff like the Villa Marsili team. Clean rooms and great authentic breakfast. Very convenient location with breathtaking view. It's simply fantastic.

The property just outside the town center is perfectly located for exploring Cortona or traveling through Tuscany. Breakfast buffet was the best I have experienced all throughout Europe. The staff was courteous and professional and they were very efficient. Highly recommend this property.

Our four nights in Cortona were delightful. The warm and enthusiastic team at the front desk (shoutout to Joana, Luana and Stefano) attended to our every need, from mapping the highlights of this compact and well-preserved hilltop town, to advice on nearby day trips, to restaurant recommendations and reservations. They'll even park your car if you can't find a free spot on the road up the hill.

The bed was firm, the bathroom/shower compact and well designed. The wifi was free and worked.

Every evening there are appetizers to go with drinks and a wide selection of wines. The ample breakfast buffet has a tempting assortment of meats, cheeses, fresh tomatoes, egg dishes, cereals/muesli, pastries, and juices. Try the lemon ricotta cake and you'll never see breakfast the same way again.

The other guests were couples traveling alone or in groups from home, and the occasional high end tour group, leading to a convivial experience in all the public areas.

We were very pleased with the Villa Marsili.
