Very nice hotel in the heart of Cortona. Very friendly and helpful staff. The room is quiet, clean and charming. The breakfast...very goog and an unforgettable view! You shouldn't miss Cortona while in Tuscany and Hotel Italia is a great option while in there.

We stayed at the Hotel Italia. After a steep walk up to the hotel, we found its location to be unparalled. Although the room we received was a little shoddy, our desire for an upgrade to a better room (in what appeared to be offseason) was met. Fortunate to receive the room featured in the pictures on Expedia, there were no complaints! Cortona is a great stop, and this hotel offerred unequalled comfort and location. Ensure you park near the stairs, and be prepared to follow them up Via Ghibbelina. Not a ton to do in Cortona, but you can enjoy the food there and the scenary from up top!

This hotel is simple but comfortable, its in a great location, right in the centre of Cortona, very close to all the sights and restaurants. It has a breakfast room with an amazing view over the rooftops across the Val di Chiana. The room (and the hotel) was pleasantly done out in a simple Tuscan style, cotto floors, chestnut doors and antique furniture here and there. Our room had a pretty view out over the roof tops of Cortona.

What really made it special was the staff. We booked on line, and when I emailed a request for directions for our drive from Pisa to the hotel, we were sent a complete sat nav printable package, door to door! Couldn't go wrong.

When we arrrived, we were welcommed warmly by name and I was shown two rooms, and given a choice of whichever room I preferred, and they said they try to give their guests a choice of rooms if they possibly can.

The staff were charming, attentive, polite and willing to offer any help we needed.

In short, its great value for money, and well worth a stay. We intend to next time we go.

One word of warning, if you arrive by car, drop your bags off at the hotel first as there isn't any parking in the historic centre, and you will have to leave the car outside the city walls, with a 10minute steep walk back up the hill to the hotel.

My husband and I stayed here first a few years ago and for several other times in between. I wrote an expansive note here about how beautifiul the breakfast room is. Now, upon our return visit this week, I find that the hotel has made major improvements and all the bathrooms have been updated. Although the bathrooms aren't all large, they are new, clean and bright. They have also added a spa where you can get a massage.

The staff has changed and now Nicole and Nick run the hotel with a warm welcome and a lot of efficiency. They are anxious to make us and the people who travel with us in our little tour business comfortable and are willing to whatever it takes to please.

I welcome this little hotel and I do still love the breakfast room with its lovely view. Wish they'd play the background music again however.

PS We always love to go to Flu Fluns next door and La Buccacia for dinner.
