“Belfiore 40 B & B”
Reviewed 15 April 2013

Found this B & B through a travel website, and booked directly with the B & B. Very conveniently located in Florence, not difficult to find it, you can literally walk everywhere from this place. We were two families with 3 small children and we never had any problems walking from this place. Located in a very characterful building, rooms are very spacious, beds are comfortable. Bathrooms could be a bit bigger though. Breakfast was a good spread, filling enough and taken in a tray to our room, to eat peacefully.
The owners are very helpful and friendly. They regularly kept in touch with us almost like big chain hotels do. Gave all the information needed to visit places in Florence and asked us to visit Trattoria Guelfa for some great food (which was brilliant advice)
If visiting Florence again, then will surely stay here. Hope they will have rooms for us, as they were nearly full all the time we were there.

Room Tip: Speak to them directly for better rates.

In a nutshell, this is a great place to stay if you are looking for good value for your money.

Pro's
-------
+ Rosie, the owner, is great and helps you out with anything you need. Makes you feel at home.
+ The price, its difficult to get anything in Florence at this price.
+ Rooms are simple but they're clean and functional

Con's
-------
- While being close to the train station, it's not really downtown Florence. Walking to Ponte Vecchio and rest of downtown will take you about ~15 mins.

I'd easly recommend this place to anyone on a budget!

I arrived here by this website, and I trusted the good price/quality ratio. once arrived, I understood. It is an excellent place, with friendly host, nice room and central position. Moreover, they will do their outmost to help you out. DEFINITELY recommended.

My friend and I stayed at a room there for 2 nights, because on the third night the bathroom flooded with dirty water overflowing into the floor!! The plumbing and drainage there is really sub par!!!

When we called the proprietor for help it took them 15 min to come on site as no one is stationed at reception continually, as its a bed and breakfast only. It stunk.

We asked for change of hotel as they had no extra room but they insisted we pay for the night we did not stay there due to THEIR bathroom's problem, threatening they would call the police!!

Very unreasonable owner!! Bad experience! Highly discourage anyone to go.

The owner waited for our late arrival and did not charge extra as stated in our booking confirmation (via budgetplace.com). Very helpful as well.

The taxi driver did know of the B&B so make sure u know the street name and building number.

Room is very big compare to a quad hotel room and Rosy even put a free gift in the drawer. As the building is quite old, and probably there were clogging problem in the past, toilet smell slightly after flushing. But a clear sign is posted on the wall, warning to not throw things in the toilet, which is fair.

Breakfast was a lot, but u have to make your own tea/coffee. I m not if this standard as I have never stayed in B&B before.

There is a bus right around the corner, and a tabac in front of the bus stop to get u to central station. We bought a day family pass which is really2 cheap @ around €6.00. Unfortunetely, bus stops at central station isn't easy to find as they are so many and you actually have to walk to each one to see if it is the bus stop for bus number u need. Asking italians is out of the question coz it is very rare they know or even care to help. So we ended up walking or taking the taxi (which is quite expensive).

We decided to stay at this B&B due to its location to the train station, as we were passing through from Venice to Rome, so we only had one night here and ooooo what a terrible night it was. The lady who welcomed us was very helpful and kind though, she just about made our stay bearable. As far as the bad things go, there are so many, firstly, don't be cheated by the lovely photos this B&B has put on this website. The traveller photos are more what you should expect. The room we stayed in is absolutely terrible...the room is on the third floor and right next to a busy road with buses, car, motorbikes, trucks, lorry's passing by constantly and all night. The windows are period style single glazed windows and do not block out any of the noise from the road. The bathroom is terrible, I'm not going to say anything more about it, it's just terrible - look at the traveller photos and you'll see. I think there are four rooms in this B&B, there are three along the busy road and one I think that faces a side street that is probably much quieter. I'd honestly give this one a miss guys, spend the extra £20-£30 a night and stay somewhere better, Florence is beautiful!

Room Tip: I think there are four rooms in this B&B, there are three along the busy road and one I think th...
