We stayed in this apartment at the end of our stay in Italy. It's in a great location, clean, nicely decorated, and very spacious.
Upon arrival, we were met by someone from the rental office, she was very nice and informative.
I agree with the previous reviewer that the A/C units should be turned on the morning of check in. It took about a day to cool off the apartment with outside temps. Of about 96 degrees Fahrenheit and forget about sleeping in the loft unless you want to sweat all night. Our daughter ended up sleeping on a sofa in the living room during our whole stay.
Don't try to use the washer/ dryer while both A/C units are running because it causes the power to go off and you'll have to go down to the ground floor and turn it on again with no elevator. We Turned off one A/C unit to wash and it was fine.
The main bathroom is very spacious and there were plenty of towels for us.
The kitchen was spacious and the loft w/ washer/ dryer was very convinient if you want to travel light.
The only suggestions I have for the owner/ manager is that maybe they should install a couple of ceiling fans in the living room so the air can ciculate to the 2nd bedroom because it's a great room and it's a shame that it wasn't utilized for the 5 nights we were there. Also, all the lights in the apartment should be checked before a guest checks in because there were many bulbs that were burned out throughout the apartment.
Would I stay here again? YES. but not in the summer time.
We had never visited Florence before and travelling with a teenager we wanted more than being crammed into one hotel room (or the expense of two hotel rooms!).
We arrived by train and took a taxi to the apartment but it is easily walkable from that station if you are travelling light - if you are intending to drag your suitcase-on-wheels be aware that the ancient and cobbled pavements will not make that easy.
We were met outside the building by a colleague of the property agent as had been arranged in advance. The apartment is on the top floor (as you would expect of the penthouse) - there is no lift, it's an old building - if you cannot make the stairs this will not be the apartment for you. The apartment is as spacious as it appears in the photographs and was clean and ready for our arrival but it was very hot. The air conditioning was not switched on before our arrival and I got the impression that the apartment had been closed up for a while. The outside temperature was 36 degrees when we arrived so a cooled apartment would have been welcome but it was soon rectified by switching the two units on ourselves. The kitchen is a good size and well equipped although we did not use the cooking facilities and there is a Nespresso coffee machine. There was no bottled water, tea or coffee, condiments or washing up cloth/sponge provided. There is a staircase in the kitchen that leads up to a washing machine and dryer (we made use of the washing machine). There is only one full bathroom and it does not have a bath (!) but a wonderful large shower which suited us perfectly, there is a second toilet and sink off of the mezzanine floor bedroom. Towels and hand towels are provided but no toilet tissue or handsoap. The main living and dining area is a large and, once cooled, a very comfortable room, there is satellite tv provided and very good Wi-Fi so whilst we were back in the apartment during the hottest part of the day everyone was entertained before heading back out into the city for the evening.
The only minor quibble that we found is that the upper mezzanine floor does not have air conditioning and it was too hot for our son to sleep in (Florence was experiencing exceptionally high temperatures for the time of year) but there is a very comfortable sofa bed in the sitting room so we relocated his bedding to there for the duration of our stay.
There is a large supermarket a 5 minute walk away and the fantastic food market in Florence is probably only a 10 to 15 minute walk away so if you do intend to cook there is no shortage of places to shop. The apartment is in a wonderful location for exploring the city, a five minute walk from the River or the Duomo and from those two places you can find your way to everywhere else! There are bus stops just down the street should you need them. Taxis are quite hard to come by but the agent that checked us out called for one on our behalf.
We were offered a late checkout as there was no one coming in immediately after us and we arranged a time for the apartment to be inspected and the agent arrived on time. Our damages deposit was returned promptly.
We thoroughly enjoyed the apartment. It was very spacious and nicely furnished. Kitchen was great. Also fully utilized the washer and dryer. Location was very convenient to sites and restaurants. I would recommend it.
This is a wonderful place for a longer stay in Florence; we based ourselves here for a week while exploring nearby cities in Tuscany and the Duomo area. The apartment is wonderfully furnished with an eye for design and the kitchen is lovely, but there are some minor issues with leaking kitchen taps and lack of some basic kitchen supplies. Location is great: a few streets back from the main Duomo area, far away enough to avoid the noise but so close that you can walk to everything easily. Great bathroom, clean with hot showers, just what you need after a long day of sightseeing. Would definitely recommend! PS the keys to the apartment require a special knack to open, or you may find yourself stranded on the landing unable to get in!
I have returned to florence, the place I belong, and this time I have decided to rent an apartment.
I have found, thanks to friends, this beautifull appartment on the roof of Florence.
Furnished with style and elegance, it is located between the Duomo and Piazza Santa Croce, in that part of the down town that still belongs to the "Fiorentini".
The appartment is really charming and fully-equipped. the only think you need is your toothbrush.
the appartment is located on the third floor of a typical Florentine-style building. There is no lift, but it is worth to climb some stairs to enjoy this angle in Florence
