I've returned to Cafaggi after a year, and the place is still the same, which is a good thing to say - still small, friendly, family run restaurant, with very good tuscany food for average price.
For 2nd time we went for fixed menu - 19 EUR for 1st (primo) and 2nd (secondo) course, service fee (coperto) included.
For both primo and secondo you can choose from cca 4 dishes, not from the whole menu where is more. I had rigatoni with bacon and vegetables, my brother went for vegetable soup, as secondo we both decided for grilled salmon steak with vegetable salad. In addition we both had 'dolce de la casa', which is homemade dezert, different each time - this time it was strawbery cake. And we had espresso of course...
In overall food was very very good again, dezert being really delicious; atmosphere again great, even better than last time - more open and welcoming. Again, dont expect heaven on plate, but great value for the money. If you want something really special try Perseus or something similar in Florence, but be ready to pay twice the money or more. Someone (like me a year ago) would expect this being a standard everywhere in Tuscany, but its not, at least not anymore, tourists spoiled a lot of places, even in Florence. But not Cafaggi - it remains the cool place it was decades ago when one (and still the same) family started to run the business there.
As a result of what was mentiond above, I have to raise the rating and go for full 5 stars in this 2nd review of mine.
I took closer look at the prices this time: 1l water 2.6 EUR, coffee 1.2 EUR, wine (de la casa, local wine, in jug, 0.5l, not bottle, red or white, still very very tasty) 5 EUR, dezert 6 EUR, primi cca 8-10 EUR, secondi 12-20 EUR. There is service fee (coperto) as in the most italian restaurants, which is 2 EUR per person I think, but as mentioned above if you take the fixed menu you dont pay it since its included in the 19 EUR.
