The place is a tiny door next to Pont Vecchio thats difficult to find, we were suggested by the owner of hotel we stayed in.
Food is simple but so good!! And with only italians around felt quite surreal, however the waiter was nice to help us in perfect english.
The only reason for 4 stars the service was a bit slow, but i guess it's because restaurant was really full, which is still a good sign!
Definitely recommend for group of friends or colleagues!

We had a really great experience at this restaurant. The food was amazing, we tried things we never saw at other restaurant around Italy. Make a reservation before because it's always full.

This place represents what I hate most in restaurants that think they are good - arrogance, greed and total lack of care.

We had made a booking for 8.30pm. We turned up there on time. The place was absolutely full
We were told to wait for 15 minutes. At 8.50pm, there was not the slightest chance we would get a table. We were told to wait another half an hour. Then a table freed up - but the "lucky winner" was a couple waiting there since 8pm... While waiting, we were shouted at all the time. The attitude of the two waiters was begging us to leave - which we did in the end.

A couple of take-aways:

1. As the place opens at 7.30pm - and they were full at 8.30pm with no guests about to leave -these folks have no intention of respecting your booking at the first place. They would take anyone in space permitting; and not even checking when they need to have a vacant table for bookings in advance. This is lack of basic customer care mixed with greed. Dining in Italy is a long affair - and you just don't seat guests to a table at 7.30 if you know it's booked for 8.30. Well, these guys do...

2. The attitude and tone are simply unacceptable for any establishment working with customers, let alone a restaurant that claims to be a good one. Waiters shouting at you; shoulders shrugging ("what the heck do you want with your booking - you just wait as long as it takes"); even gestures pointing a knife at the diners ("so shall I kill someone to make space for you?") - this is a disgrace.

The food at Buca may be good; but the place deserves to be out of business just for the arrogance, greed and mindset of the folks working there. Do not bother to go - Florence has much better to offer than this place...

Small tavern near Ponte Vecchio. An ancient location where you can breath the fragrance and taste the flavour of genuine local dishes cooked with simple and good quality.

Ate here one night when in Florence for work.

We were a table of six and shared starters, including mozzarella and tomatoes (so fresh and delicious), a mushroom omelette, deep fried courgette flowers (amazing) and lots of bread.

My main was pasta with mushrooms which was simple, but so much better than anything you'd get back home! All was washed down with a good house white and finished with a complimentary mini choc ice.

Would definitely recommend - great food in a really authentic location. The staff were great and the manager seemed really chuffed with the tip we left at the end which was so nice!
