The location itself is very promising, especially when you get a seat on a small terrace. The staff is very kind and looking to accommodate you in a best way. Unfortunately food does not meet our expectations. We ordered tuna in sicily style. We were served with tuna from tin can. Plate of prosciutto was far from what you get in almost every osteria in Tuscany. I would expect at least good wine, since this place is owned by winery. Unfortunately chianti was chianti just by the name. At the end the price was not low.

Having spent much time in Firenze usually teaching, I am up early and need my espresso (caffè) and "something". My favorite "Forno"- Bakery (etc.) is Cantinetta dei Verrazzano. Only in the morning they have small Focaccia that are wonderful. These are slightly salty with infused Olive oil, not oily but flaky, 3 or 4 does the trick! They also have some with olives and of course a full range of breads and wonderful cookies and lots of other [sweets] Dolci!

The atmosphere is elegant but understated. Further down from the bread & Dolci showcase is a small bar/counter where you acquire your caffè or cappuccino served in ceramic cups of course! You can select and order your eats and drink, then pay for it before you take it,

The Cantinetta also is a restaurant, featuring small dishes and excellent pizza as well. Verrazzano also has a famous vineyard that produces excellent vino that can also be had by the glass or bottle. The Cantinetta is also an excellent location for your late afternoon aperitivo, vino and antipasto. They even have a small outdoor section with a few tables. The location is very close to Piazza della Repubblica a wonderful place to hangout and experience local color!

At Breakfast you can enjoy fresh pastries, freshly squeezed juices or the perfect cappuccino with local coffee brand Caffe Piansa. For lunch if you want a snack of fresh foccaccia breads with delicious toppings like fresh tomato or zucchini flower, in the evening or for an aperitif a glass of chianti classico from their wine estate with fresh wild boar salami (also from their estate!) and pecorino cheese plates serviced with truffle honey is a treat!

I was recently in Florence for five weeks to study Italian and explore the city. I am a bit of a coffee snob (I've been roasting my own for 15 years) and, after a bit of research, learned this place serves beans roasted by Caffè Piansa, one of the best in Florence. Well, since the CP cafe is not handy to the Centro Storico, I made this 'forno' a daily stop after classes, and during my weekend rounds of the old city. It did turn out to be the best, and most consistent, coffee I had in Florence on the trip...espresso, macchiato, cappuccino, etc...all were great. The baked goods are likewise exemplary, and their stuffed foccacia is fantastic, with a wide variety of fillings...a great, inexpensive choice for a quick lunch or snack. The people are friendly and I developed a nice chatty rapport with several behind the bar. Can't wait to get back! I can't say anything about the more complete menu they serve in the two small dining rooms, but I'm sure it is up to the high standards of the coffee and the bakery.

I stumbled across this beautifully decadent but modest venue purely by accident. Dining here made me reminisce of times gone by and there was a elegant but understated air of class and refinement whilst lunching here. The house wine was exceptional and is from their own vineyards and the food was presented in true Florence style.
