This tour is a must!! We were going to take a cooking class... but being Italian we knew how to make pasta. So,we opted for this tour because we wanted to experience what a Florentine does everyday. Our tour guide was Tina and she met us in front of "La Norcineria" which is a deli/butcher shop. Here we learned the difference between parma ham and Tuscan ham and also had a discussion about different cheeses in the shop... including a taste. Next stop was Forno (a bakery) to sample coccoli (dough that's fried then stuffed with tomato/mozzarella) deeelish, then a focaccio type bread stuffed with cheese and sausage!
Made our way to San Lorenzo market while Tina explained some history behind some of the foods we had tasted. Stopped at Nerbone (kind of deli fast food shop) for some bollito di manzo
(boiled beef sandwich... doesn't sound too appealing but was awesome) topped it off with salsa verde and salsa picante! Next stop fish and chips Italian style....fried calamari and baccala (cod)this fish is fresh and you can really taste the difference. Because, we had already consumed all this food we needed a little stroll... Tina took up through some of the back allies for Florence to see daily life. Next, wine, olive oil, and balsamic tasting at Alessi Enoteca... again Tina did a fabulous job of explaining what to look for went purchasing these products to ensure they are authentically Italian. Our tastings were accompanied by fabulous appetizers. We thought this was the end... but oh no you have to have chocolate and gelato. Off to Vestri... to sample both. We really enjoyed our 5 hours together with Tina and can honestly say this was one of the best experiences we had on our trip.... this tour is a must... if you want to feel like a local!
Bravo... Taste Florence and Grazie!

Fantastic tour today with Karen sampling some of the amazing delights Florence has to offer.

This tour is a great way to learn about Tuscan food, and also provides some great insight into what/where to eat in this huge city.

Highly recommend you do this first as the tips/local knowledge is invaluable! Especially when it comes to helping avoid the typical tourist traps!

All stops on this tour were delicious, DON'T eat breakfast before you come as you need plenty room.

The food tour was one of the highlights of our trip! We had started in Rome, spent time all over Tuscany, in Cinque Terre and ended in Florence and the tour with Tina was so well enjoyed by all of us and Tina was great! She was funny and friendly and we all liked her very much. Even the pouring rain didn't put a damper on our good time! We learned a lot, in addition to tasting so many delightful treats. And in total agreement with a previous commenter who said their only regret was doing this tour on the last day in Florence instead of the first. If my family and I could go back in time, we would've started our Florence stay with this tour. Heck, we would've started our entire vacation with Florence and this tour instead of Rome.

Thank you so much Tina and Toni, such wonderful memories and tastes!

We took the Taste Florence tour on our first day in Florence. Our guide met us at 9:30 and took us tasting to all different types of food vendors. We sampled prosciutto from different regions to start with and then moved next door to taste one of the tastiest biscuits ever. The cantucci. It was lovely.

Then off to many other stores that included a bakery, a cafe, the central markets, a wine store and a chocolate/gelato store.

Our tour guide was full of information and answered all our questions eagerly. We are glad we did this tour on the first day as we will (and already have) gone back to those stores and purchased some of the things we have tasted.

We fully recommend this tour as a great introduction to Florence.

What a great way to start or end your tour of Florence and Tuscany! Toni (the founder) led our tour and was absolutely wonderful. We started with chocolate, covered meats, cheese, balsamic vinegar, olive oil, bread, and ended with gelato! Certainly I could have found most of these things myself, but not of such high quality and I definitely not while learning so much. We met a man whose family baked all the bread for the best restaurants in the city, a chocolatier who owned his own cacao plantation, and spent quite a while tasting vinegar and oil at the store of a family who has been making both for centuries. If you are looking for references on foods, restaurants, or where to purchase the best best calimari in town you get this as well!
