“Just Ok, Not Worth the Hype”
Reviewed 19 August 2014

Our party included two adults and two teens. As with other restaurants, we went to Cibreo Trattoria at the advice of our Bed and Breakfast. The Trattoria serves the same exact food, out of the same kitchen as the more expensive Cibreo. Since I had seen many great reviews in travels books on Cibreo we thought we would try it. We were disappointed.

The menu is quite limited and the portions are VERY small. Since there was nothing else on the entree menu that seemed very appealing to any of us, we all ordered the same "meal"; the chicken meatballs. While we all felt that the taste of the food was satisfying, that did not make up for the serving sizes. Each entree was served with exactly two small meatballs and nothing else. I am not sure how that is considered an entree. Even though we ordered 3 appetizers for the 4 of us to share, those were all quite small as well so we all left still hungry. Additionally, considering the small portions, it was quite expensive.

One side note: We sat outside across from another eatery that had a sign posted saying "5 euro buffet." We watched people going in and out with plates full of food all night. We had food envy for sure!

“delicious”
Reviewed 17 June 2014

We ate dinner here on a very hot day. Our only disappointment was that they were serving only outside, not in their air-conditioned inside restaurant. The food was delicious!
Another reviewer mentioned the musicians playing tableside - this happened to us and was very annoying (2 accordian players playing american classics about 3 feet away from us.....this had nothing to do with the restaurant, though).
I am a vegetarian and was planning to cobble together a meal of appetizers/side dishes when I decided to mention it to the waiter. He came up with 2 off-menu items as an alternative to the meat/fish main dishes that were listed.
I was tempted to go back during our trip, but there are too many good places to try in florence.

“Very nice lunch spot”
Reviewed 4 June 2014

Located in a nice part of town away from most of the large crowds is a little spot which actually is a complex of establishments by the same name. The food was really very nice including the fish soup which I normally would not order. The staff was very attentive, food arrived timely but not rushed. We ate outside which was nice as well and the strolling musician just made the experience better. In side the decor had a vintage feel without being old lady. Next time will try it for dinner.

“Not your usual Italian food”
Reviewed 1 June 2014

Went to the Trattoria and really enjoyed the experience The food was rustic Italian - no pizza or pasta. The menu was entirely in Italian but the waitress was able to fully explain in English We chose dishes she recommended as local specials and were not disappointed The white fish steamed in foil and the mushroom soup ( not really a soup) were delicious. The menu changes daily so you never know what to expect. The prices were reasonable. There are no reservations but we got there about 7:15 and were seated immediately We will be in Florence for another few weeks and will definitely go back again.

“Best meal of our trip to Italy”
Reviewed 30 May 2014

We are adventurous eaters and love getting an authentic taste of anywhere we are traveling. Cibreo was recommended by a local, and was the best meal of our trip. You know it's a good sign when you tell your cab driver your destination and he tells you that it's a good restaurant! The menu is handwritten and in Italian, but the waiter very patiently translated everything for us without us even asking. The dishes are very traditional and many are served room temperature. It was a lot of fun to try food we had never even heard of before. Although this might not be the place for everyone, and not every dish was amazing, just the fact that the menu could awe my food family is worth 5 stars.
