“Just the best”
Reviewed 20 October 2013

Read about this place all over and had to visit. Was in Florence for three nights and we went here twice. Brought my 10 and 14 year old and our favorite waiter, Ivan, made them feel right at home. All the reviews are spot on. You must try the vegetable soup, which is one of my favorite things i have eaten ever. Ivan swore to me it was vegetarian when I insisted it must have pork to taste so good. Moved on to the spicy spaghetti, which would probably the best dish in any other restaurant but here remains in the shadow of some of the other wonderful options. The first night we split the pork chop. It is as good as advertised and make sure you get the roasted potatoes with it. The second night we split a huge steak. It is served very rare, like grilled tuna -- pink in the middle but the meat is just so so good.

But just as important is the atmosphere and the way they make you feel at home, even as Americans in this restaurant that is so clearly intended for the locals. They prepared a beautiful penne with meat sauce for my cranky ten year old daughter and made her crack a smile. Worth the price of admission alone.

Desserts are wonderful if you have room for them, which I kinda doubt if you want to try as many of the dishes as I did.

Be forewarned, you will be paying at least 12 euro by cab from the city center. But the prices are so reasonable that you shouldn't mind a bit, especially compared to what you will pay at the tourist places in the city center.

“Great meal - but don't follow the Trip Ad'r map!”
Reviewed 8 October 2013 via mobile

We almost gave up trying to find this place following the Trip Advisor map. Eventually found it at No.33 - about 100m toward the city centre from its spot on the map. Glad we persisted though. Had a very good meal, in authentic Tuscan surroundings. The place is full of locals, which is always a good sign, and was packed. We arrived at 8pm on a monday night and they only just squeezed us in. Sharing a starter, 2 x mains, 2 x desserts and a half litre of house wine for 67 euro.

“The chef must have been on holiday”
Reviewed 26 August 2013

I am amazed at previous reviews - very disappointing meal. My crostini were 3 slices of bread with a very " loose" pâté . No garnish of any kind.
Tuna and beans was just that. Some tepid flavourless white beans with tinned tuna -no other flavours or garnish. Husbands pork chop is still sticking in his teeth! Dry, tasteless, flavourless.
Peaches in white wine were as hard as turnips, had to send them back , they were so crunchy, which the chef should have known.
Not cheap and really couldn't recommend. The " American" waiter was pleasant.

“Truly Tuscan food”
Reviewed 13 July 2013

Small hole in the wall tavern with good food and staff. The potatoes that came with the osso buco were unbelievably good. The pork chops were very good. The local will get priority so make a reservation.
