Coquinarius does not disappoint... excellent service, wonderful crostini and pasta, and an excellent selection of wine. Menu highlights for me would be the crostone with brie, honey, and almonds, as well as the pear and cheese raviolini. Each plate is a treat. Great ambience too. Overall a perfect dining experience

My son suggested we have lunch here. We ordered two orders of crostini and a very generous-sized salad to share. The greens, avocado and corn were farm fresh and combined with sun-dried tomatoes. My pear and Parmesan raviolitini was excellent, as was the cheese ravioli with pistachio sauce. This was a large lunch and I have to be certain to order less on our next visit. We plan to return for dinner before leaving Florence. The restaurant was very busy and the two servers were very efficient and helpful.

We went to Caffe Coquinarius upon recommendation from our Florence for Foodies tour guide. It was definitely one of our best meals while in Italy. We had a crostini appetizer, and I had the Pecorino and Pear pasta. The crostini was very good, but the pasta was to die for!! It was the best pasta dish I've ever eaten, and if we had been in Florence for much longer, I would have gone back for it again. Other than the food, the service in the restaurant was fairly typical for most of Europe, with waiters/waitresses seeming a bit disorganized, and fairly long waits between courses, for the check, etc.

We had no issues with service, unlike some recent reviews. The owner Nicola is a wine enthusiast and as a result, the selection is very good. This is a proper wine bar unlike some of the dreary dumps in Italy that claim to be an enoteca. Indeed both Chiantis we drank were excellent, particularly the 2011 Riecine chianti classico which was refined and delicious and served in appropriate large glassware. The food was based on traditional Tuscan flavours but not the cliche dishes that abound on menus in this town. A bonus is that there is plenty of room so you don't feel jammed in. The recent reviewer who complained about hidden fees is mistaken as the 2 euro per person cover charge is clearly listed on the menus. While I don't like the cover charges in Italy, claiming they are hidden when they are not and giving a terrible rating is an indictment on that reviewer. Our group of five would unhesitatingly return.

We ventured there after reading a great review on Fodor's and had a mixed experience. The food was great, and the wine recommendation was fabulous and we really liked the atmosphere... However the restaurant is severley understaffed. There was basically ONE waiter who knew what he was doing... two others were kind of running around not knowing what to do (they couldnt take our order, walk us through the menu or recommend a wine). It took us forever to get seated even though our table was open for a while (to be fair, they did seat us without a reservation). We waited a very long time to get our order taken, and the wine didn't come until after the first course. That said, the one waiter was wonderful... very friendly and knowledgeable. He just can't do it alone. Hopefully they'll get more people to help out because the location, food, atmosphere etc were all great.

We started with the trio of vegetable flans... two of the flans were absolutely delicious, but one was very dry and just plain bad. We also had the pear ravioli which were great, and the rabbit papardelle was good, but not as good as the ravioli.
