Very well located and very nice friendly staff. Our room was on the very top floor and looked as though it was from the 1970's. It was clean but shabby, with a rickety staircase up to the bathroom, which was small but modern and clean. The beds were comfortable, nice white crisp sheets. There was a leak in the stairwell going up to our room and we had to dodge the drips.
the breakfast was ok. I would not stay here again although some of our party did have nice rooms.

Room Tip: Make sure you do not get room 28 or 32 they are both very small and not as nice as the other rooms.

While this is a nice spot, and centrally located, the reception is on the second floor, and several people in my group had trouble with all the stairs. The staff is very accommodating, schlepping the bags up and down, and breakfast is good, but it's difficult to get to by car, especially unloading a group with lots of luggage.

gentilsisimo Cliente, mi dispiace tantissimo della problematica dell'ascensore ma visto il fatto che la palazzina e' una struttura storica e vincolata ci e' veramente impossibile realizzare un ascensore.

It was clean and central. I stayed with a friend and we had no problems with regards to twin beds. Staff were fine. We were there for four days. Breakfast was pretty basic but we were out early and gelati mid morning snack made up for what we missed in the morning. In florence location is everything and this place has it.

We spent three nights in this hotel in September 2013 and although it is in a great location (very close to the Duomo) overall we were disappointed. We booked and paid for the hotel through a travel agent 11 months in advance requesting a twin room which the hotel confirmed. On arrival we were told there was only a double room available. As I was on holiday with a friend this really wasn't acceptable especially as the hotel was booked and confirmed nearly a year in advance. The manager took us our room and offered to pull out the sofa bed. I explained to the manager that we weren't very happy with that arrangement and would not have booked the hotel if we had realised this would be the case. The manager then instead of apologising became very rude and rather aggressive in his manner! He did eventually arrange for a single bed to be brought up to the room which of course was acceptable but just disappointing that this wasn't offered straight away.

With regards to the the hotel overall, if you want a modern hotel with all the mod cons this hotel is not for you, however, it is a characterful hotel housed in a Renaissance period building which is all part of it's charm.

There were a few irritating things which I would not expect from a 3 star hotel - the shower would suddenly run cold whilst using it, you couldn't have a bedside lamp on as they were connected to the main lights so it was all or nothing, the door fell off the bedside cabinet when I opened it, one of the wall lights swung upside down when touched and the door to the bathroom needed slaming to shut properly. The breakfast was ok but there were plastic cups for the juice which I thought was a bit lazy and the toaster took a good 10 minutes to toast the bread.

There are a couple of other reviews on here which I wish I had seen before we booked the hotel, unfortunately the managers response to them are really not acceptable and really does himself no favours in sercuring future bookings.

grazie

This hotel was awful.
It is supposed to be 3 star but it really isnt. And if it ever was, it has considerably slipped since it was last graded!!!! To start with, we booked the room 11 months ago. My friend and I wanted twin beds and when we arrived we had a double bed. - No appologies, nothing! It wasnt until we made a fuss that they then decided they could get a single bed from another room and put it in our room but we would have to wait a few hours before they did it. To their credit, they did get us a single bed but the attitude of the staff was not good at all.
Our room was dusty (to the point that both myself and my friend kept sneezing) and the side table was not wiped over once whilst we staying (3 Nights). The bathroom door closed when it felt like it, the rest of the time it wouldn't close at all. The side lights didn't work, so you had to have all the lights on or off, which isn't good when 1 person wants to read and 1 wants to sleep.
The breakfast - was average at best. We wanted toast and put it in the toaster and was told it takes "a while". 10 mins later our toast was done!!! (and that was just one side!!!)
There was plastic cups for drinks at breakfast.
Generally the whole experience was not a nice one and I would serious recommend anyone thinking of staying in this hotel to avoid it!

Room Tip: Choose another hotel!!!

If you want to stay in the true heart of Florence, two blocks away from the Duomo, then this is the place! This hotel is in a former servants' building owned by the Medici family, so yes, there is no elevator...but the hotel staff are more than eager to help carry your luggage up and down the stairs. The building is not super modernized, but quite sufficient if you want a convenient way to see Florence!

Our family of 5 stayed comfortably in the family room outfitted with a queen bed and 3 single beds. The European breakfast was really great and hearty, complete with custom crafted coffee beverages and hot chocolate for the kids. We were able to easily walk to the city center and see all the major sites without needing additional transportation. The fact that we were so close to the Duomo made it possible to go back to the hotel during the peak afternoon heat, and then come out again in the evening for dinner and gelato. A great experience for all of us!
