Step through the front door of the Residenza d’Epoca Via Santo Spirito 6, Firenze, IT
and you will find a little bit of Italian heaven. From Caterina and Alessandra's welcome to the exquisite room decors, the little gold bags of bath products to the basket of teas and coffee, refrigeratedwater, what a pleasurable welcome these weary travelers felt. We were 3 couples.
Being in the culture of the neighborhood, breakfast enjoyed in a little café, five minutes
walk to wonderful restaurants, close to museums and shops, its placement is perfect
in this beautiful city. We all felt it to be a home away from home. Elegance is the word.
We cannot say enough good things about our four day stay and we all wish we had more time there.

Thank You,
Judy and Ken Larson

Myself and a friend spent three nights in the Giovanna Garzoni room in the Residenza d'Epoca and I can't recommend it highly enough. When I was looking for accommodation back in January I was overwhelmed with the choice available in Florence. Evenutally I chose three of Trip Advisor's top picks in our price range. My friend and I agreed on d'Epoca and were not disappointed. The Ganzoni room is on two levels and would suit three people. My only reservation would be the spiral stairway to the double bedroom on the mezzanine level which might be a bit awkward for anyone with limited mobility or a bad back. The finish of the studio is to a high standard and the place was spotlessly clean. The staff were extremely helpful but be aware that they do not work on Sundays (apart from Luca, d'Epoca's on-site assistant, should you need help). This proved our only problem as we were in Florence during the cycle race and travelling forward on that Sunday. As a result of the race, taxi companies weren't taking bookings, it seems you can't hail a taxi in the street and the taxi company hung up when they heard we spoke English, so it was shank's pony to the Santa Novella station for a taxi (a good twenty minute walk). On our arrival to d'Epoca we were given vouchers for a continental breakfast consisting of fresh fruit juice, a hot drink and a savoury sandwich or a couple of sweet pastries - a nice light start to the day. Note that on a Sunday you go to a different cafe for breakfast. However both cafes provide a wide and tasty selection. Finally and probably most importantly, d'Epoca is really central while not being in the centre. It means that you're just a short walk from all the sites but not in the middle of the crowds which seem to be inseparable from the experience of Florence. There are restaurants, cafes and shops just a few steps from your front door and you're only a few yards from the Santa Trinita bridge which is right beside the Uffizi Gallery. What more could a tourist want?

Positive:
- Fantastic location in the city centre
- Very nice old monastry
- Friendly staff
- Update: they now do have airconditioning (at least in our room)
- Breakfast in a cosy bar that is in the same street as the hotel. The coupons that you get look minimalistic at first sight, but in the end the breakfast is very good!
Negative:
- If you arrive outside their office hours, you'll get an e-mail the day before to make arrangements so that someone of their staff wil wait for you, let you in and give you the keys. So make sure you check your e-mail even though on holiday!

Important tip for those arriving with a car: there is free parking on the Piazzale Michaelangelo. Nice walk down to the hotel, although taking a bus (nr 12) or taking a taxi might be better if you have a lot of suitcases.

After all the amazing reviews on trip advisor, we ended up booking our honeymoon stay in the Emily Dickinson room and we were not let down! When you check in, the ladies in the office were so friendly and helpful in giving us maps and recommendations. They also helped us book reservations for the Academia Galleria and a taxi to Chianti during our stay. We really felt safe which is important when staying in Florence. It is close to all attractions but were pleasantly surprised that it was quiet in our room and on our terrace since we faced the opposite of the street side. Also free vouchers everyday from the café next to the Residenza was perfect. Freshly squeezed OJ, Expresso and choice of pastry or sandwich which help save us a bit of money and was delicious. The air conditioning also felt amazing after a long day of site seeing in the sun! Definitely would recommend staying here to anyone who wants a private amazing stay in Florence. We didn't want to leave!

The hotel staff was very nice. The hotel was in a great location, near shops and cafés. It was a very good value. The only negatives were the loud traffic when the window is open and no air conditioning in July. Other than that, it was well worth the money. I would definitely stay here again, but not in the middle of the summer!

My husband and I just finished our stay of three nights. Thought the hotel was terrific and it met all our needs. Loved the location, a block away from the Arno, Santo Spirito, and two blocks from the Ponte Vecchio. We really enjoyed staying on this side of the river too, as we found it quieter at night to sleep, and there were a wonderful selection of restaurants and wine bars to try within five mins walk. Alessandra was incredibly accommodating too, helping us reserve bookings for the museums of our interest as well as dinner reservations even before our arrival. Some people complained about the lack of air conditioning, but we found this to be a non issue in July. Just keep the windows open at night and feel the nice breeze...AFTER shutting off lights to avoid bugs coming in.

We will def. be back here next time in Florence and will recommend to our friends who are seeking less than 100 euro a night in an expensive city.
