Great place, right in the middle of everything. Location really could not be any better. Also, the place is clean and very comfortable. This is our second trip to Florence, and these accommodations compare very favorably to the (much more expensive) hotel we stayed at last time. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Palazzo Uguccioni. Highly recommended.

We just returned from a two week vacation in Italy and upon a family vote, we voted the "Camera con Vista" at the Palazzo Uguccioni, our best apartment in Italy. Everything about the apartment was great: It had an amazing view, in the best location, it was clean, quiet, and charming. And even though we were a family of four (two adults and two teenagers), we found the room very comfortable. We will definitely stay at the Palazzo Uguccioni during our next visit to Florence.

You have to be careful if you do a reservation on internet for this hotel!
We had one done by Booking and took with us the copy of this reservation confirmed. On arrival the door was closed and nobody answered. We called the telephone number indicated by the reservation paper and a lady in a very bad mood answered she had no knowledge of any reservation and the apartments were full. When we tried to talk to her personnaly and show her our confirmation she was very upset and told there was no one there who could attend us and that the apartments were complete. We were 6 people without hotel and all the places were full. Fortunately , at the end , we got to find another apartment in another hotel, the last left...

Dear Ana,

We are extremely sorry you had such a bad experience in Florence. You are correct that you have to be very careful when making a reservation on the internet!

We often work with online agencies, and most of their clients arrive at Palazzo Uguccioni without problems and enjoy our accommodations very much. Very rarely, as in your case, things go wrong.

The agency you booked with never sent us notification of your reservation at all. So imagine our surprise when you called out of the blue, thinking you had a room. Not only were we unprepared for your check-in, but we also could not accommodate you because we did not have any available apartments. If we had an apartment for you, we would have gladly honored your reservation.

When you called, I believe at around 7pm, the woman who does our check-ins had already gone home for the day (not expecting any arrivals). You said she was in a "bad mood", but I can assure you she was simply aggravated with the agency for putting us in such a bad position. She is a very precise and meticulous woman, and hates when things go wrong. We apologize if her frustration with the agency came off as frustration with you. The agency really put us both, client and accommodation, in a very bad spot!

So I am not trying to belittle your anger and disappointment, but only asking you to see it from our side. We are also victims of the agency. And I realize that we take part of the blame by working with agencies at all (but in the current market it is really the only way a small establishment such as ours can stay in business).

To avoid "agency glitches", I urge future clients to reserve with us directly on our website (just our name). If you do reserve with an agency or other website, please contact us as soon as possible to confirm your reservation and set up a check-in appointment.

Ana, we are really sorry that this situation occurred, and hope that we can welcome you to Palazzo Uguccioni at another time.

Best Regards,
Ellen

Palazzo Uguccioni is smack dab in the middle of Florence so it's a great central location for all the sightseeing we did.
We were in the Fantasia room for a week.We had a bit of an unnerving glitch when we arrived. The plan was that my husband was to call when we arrived and someone would meet us with keys. When we called, we were told we didn't have a reservation. Imagine our sudden panic when, after travelling for 12+ hours, we hear that we didn't have a booking, despite paying a sizeable deposit.
The woman looked into things, called us back, and said she'd made an error. About 20 minutes later, someone arrived with keys.
While the kitchen seemed like a great feature, we didn't use it for anything other than refrigerating drinks.
It was wonderful to hear church bells from our apartment, as well as various symphonies that played on the nearby stage.
If you're a light sleeper, be prepared for the very early morning sounds of the street sweeper.
The water temperature in the shower was most unusual. It cycled every few seconds between ok, too hot and too cold, without any adjustments of the dial. This happened every day so we became quite good at making a quick dash out of the spray of the water when it went through its cold and hot spurts.
We really enjoyed our week in Florence and our stay at Palazzo Uguccioni. It's such a great location.

We stayed here for 6 nights in the same room shown in the picture with this listing - the tower of the Palazzo Vecchio in the front window, the Duomo in the back window.

As others have commented, one of the best locations in Florence, with tidy rooms. And we certainly appreciated the air conditioning on those hot days exploring and the free laundry facilities before moving on. Booked directly via their we site and they were even nice enough to accommodate us when we needed to add an extra night due to a cancelled flight. Overall a great experience in our quaint "Camera Con Vista".

I loved my apartment. The location is divine, and the "Alcova" apartment met my needs exactly. It was comfortable, clean, and spacious. The bedroom was set back in an alcove, with a heavy curtain separating it from the large living/dining room. I had a small terrace, which was lovely to sit out in in the summer. The bathroom was spotless, and the walk-in shower was great! There is access to a washing machine, and an iron/ironing board.

the welcome bottle of wine was a thoughtful touch.

I have stayed here at least 6 times, and would certainly do so again without hesitation.

This is the 5th or 6th time we have stayed here. We visit twice a year on business and take 3 of the 5 appartments offered. They all have their own features, but all are comfortable and welcoming. After a day working at a trade show to return to an appartment that feels like home is wonderful.
The position is so central with the Ufizzi and Duomo minutes walk away. You step out of the amazing huge front door staight into the sqaure and stop to take in the fantastic sights and architecture. The appartment building itself being one of these sights!
The appartments are beautifully clean. They have enough equipment for you to make drinks and snacks and probably ,if you wanted, cook a meal but with so many great places to eat in Florence we have never bothered!
The flexibility of having your own'home' in Florence is great. To be able to come and go as you want and have the space of an appartment makes a big difference, we have certainly enjoyed our visits much more than when we stayed in a hotel.
We have always had a warm welcome on arrival and given helpful advice should we need it.

We are around the corner from the Ponte Vecchio, down the street from the Duomo, a short stroll to Piazza Santa Croce, and only steps from the Uffizi. You can't find a better location from which to explore Florence! Palazzo Uguccioni Some of the most important Florentine palaces surround Piazza della Signoria, and Palazzo Uguccioni is in fact one of these splendid palaces. The building, with its noble and harmonious façade, was created for Giovanni Uguccioni by Mariotto di Zanobi Folfi in 1549 to a design by Raphael. From the ground floor, constructed with large ashlars forming three arches, two stories rise above and are divided by twin columns of the Ionic and Corinthian order which are set on plinths. On the first floor, above the entrance, is a bust of Cosimo I (currently being restored). It is in this magnificent building that our five charming apartments can be found and where one may experience an unforgettable stay and enjoy some of the most beautiful views in the world! ... more   less
