We stayed at the Bed and Breakfast Repubblica for 3 nights October - November 2011. This is an excellent location for seeing Florence. The rooms are clean and the staff is helpful. Bathroom is a bit small but clean and efficient. There was always activity of musicians, artists, and vendors on the piazza. We enjoyed opening up our window over-looking the crowd and people watching while having a glass of wine at night. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone traveling to Florence.

Room Tip: Be sure to request a room with a balcony.

We just returned from Italy and stayed for 5 nights at BB Repubblica.
Pros:
>Superb location. But beware that it can be quite noisy, even in to the wee hours. My husband and I knew this ahead of time, and it didn't bother us because we loved the energy and excitement.
>Nice bedroom/comfortable bed. We had a room with a balcony & mini-frig. It was nice having wine overlooking the piazza. Front desk insisted that we take wine glasses and not the juice glasses we were going to use. Room was very clean.
>Nice staff. Check-in was easy. We got in early and weren't expecting to be able to check in, but the room was ready and every thing went smoothly. Got some good recommendations, but unfortunately, we didn't get to meet Mario, who was great during on-line conversations.
Price. Great value for the superior location.
Cons:
>The breakfast was quite skimpy-- plastic wrapped pastries and cereal. But, we were right next door to wonderful pastries and coffee, so I can't complain that much. (Hotel Napoleon in Rome had a full breakfast).
>Bathroom was quite small, but that's to be expected of the location. Still, if you're a large person, the shower may cause you some angst.
>No heat in October. We were there at the end of October and a couple of nights it was quite chilly.
>Keys... you have to keep several keys with you when you leave and beware-- you could lock yourself in or out. We had a very early morning departure and didn't realize that you need a key to *unlock* the front door to get out. I had just shut the bedroom door with the key in it, when my husband realized we had locked ourselves in. Fortunately, he was able to find another key in a front desk drawer. (whew!).

The BB is on the 2nd Floor, but there is an elevator up to it (small though). It was a little difficult to find, but we recognized it from the website photos.

Room Tip: Get a balcony (and mini frig is nice too). However, be prepared for fun noise all night long.

My family (wife and two kids, ages 5 and 2), at time of writing, have completed 3 of our 4 night stay here. This is an excellent B&B. There are two key reasons:

1. LOCATION. This lodging is located just a few minutes walk from ALL of Florence's key attractions as well as railway station.

2. THE STAFF. I did not have the opportunity to meet the owner Mario but the staff here (AMCA and VITTORIO) have been EXCELLENT. Even though their English is limited, they have been very helpful and have a wonderfully positive attititude.

Now, let me review the negatives:

1. The room we are in (a two-floor quad) is pleasant but does not appear as elegant as seen in the photos at the BB's website.

2. The room is excellent for young adults or a family with older children. I say this because the staircase is very steep. Thus, it's rather dangerous for a family such as ours because our kids are aged 5 and 2.

All in all, this is a good hotel and you can contact me at rajchotrani@gmail.com if you have more queries.

Truely i can not fault any thing at this B&B. The location is prefect and the sounds of live jazz in Piazza fills your room in the evening. Mario however is the thing that makes this b&b even better. HIs guenuine helpful ness made our stay in Florence amasing. His advice is sound and the little things to do with restaurant recommendations and ticket bookings truely are what make the stay in florene everything he recommended us to do was fantastic.

The B&B has a coffee and tea machine in the dining area that can be used at any time it is a fantastic service and the coffee is amasing, The rooms are clean well kept and charming. I will definatly be back on my next visit. We had 2 rooms one twin and one double both lovely. If you are thinking of visiting Flornce and want 5 star service at a very reasonable price this the place for you.

It was a perfect location for Florence.
Mario was extremely knowledable and goes out of his way to be helpful.
His use of English is excellent which helped us first timers.
We found the bed comfortable and the breakfast set us on our way each morning.
Free wi fi
Taxi stand just across from piazza
Train just a few blocks but don't try to walk with cases too many people!
Can be noisy if you are early nighters but if dining late as the Italians do... not a problem.
Most Piazza noise ends at 12am.

Room Tip: Double glazed room may be more useful. Perhaps not facing the Piazza. However noise not a huge prob...

We visited Florence together with our two children. The location of this B&B is ideal as it is in the centre of the city. If the kids were tired, we would pop back to our room for a bit of a rest. Evenings were wonderful since street perdormers in the Piazza are awesome and there is always something going on everyday. The room was lovely and the bathroom was very comfortable. What was lovely was that at any time we were able to go into the breakfast room for a quick espresso and look out of its window overlooking the square. Mario, the owner, is always really caring and helpful. I would recommend this place anytime and would gladly revisit it myself once more!

Room Tip: We stayed in a quadrule room - Number 5 and it was great.

Great deal in the heart of Florence. Truly. Best location you could imagine on a wonderful piazza in the middle of everything. Small little B&B on the third floor of the building. Quiet and cozy.
