“Charming”
Reviewed 21 May 2012

We stayed here and Hotel Annalena in a recent trip to Florence. This was by far the better experience. It is a charming little B&B run by a cute couple with care. It is far away from a big impersonal hotel chain and all the better for it.

We stayed in the three person bedroom and were impressed by the comfortable beds and nice decoration. The bathroom is small but modern.

The other real positive is the owners who know the area really well and were able to recommend some good local eateries in keeping with our preferences (we are all obsessive foodies). When I go back to Florence I will stay here.

The majority of the Venere.com website reviews of this B&B were so overwhelmingly positive I didn't hesitate to book a room. What was not mentioned was the dark, dingy 4 flights of stairs that you must climb to get to your room, not the two cited on the website. We had to carry our luggage ourselves. The wireless is very weak and doesn't really work in the bedroom. The beds have no box springs and are hard. Having lost an article, I had reason to give the room a good search. There was a lot of dust. The shower had great pressure but the stall would be very small for most people. The staff are lovely and accommodating but there are so many other negatives, I couldn't recommend this B&B to anyone. Once we saw the site we tried to find another hotel or B&B. Unfortunately everything was booked and we had no choice but to stay here.

Whatever I write, I cannot say enough about Bonsignori. Hands down, this was our favorite bed and breakfast that we stayed at during our vacation in Italy. Out of all of our bed and breakfasts we stayed at Bonsignori was the first one to make contact with us and followed through on everything they promised for our stay.

We stayed in the orange room, which was absolutely gorgeous. Private bathroom, hot shower, clean bed linens, many electrical outlets to choose from, and a reliable free wifi internet connection. Riccardo welcomed us in, showed us the residence, gave us the low-down on breakfast, provided an abundance of pamphlets/maps, and we were good to go.

In addition to the information they provided, there was also an "information cubby" of even more pamphlets, from taxi phone numbers to doctor contacts if needed. A cell phone is always available to make local calls.

Breakfast was available bright and early in the common area kitchen. Fresh fruit, bread, individual Nutella/honey packages, homemade marmalade, 2 choices of cereal, meats/cheeses, yogurts, juice, milk, water, tea, andcoffee. A toaster, microwave, and nice coffee machine is available to use. Every morning there was also a fresh baked good/pastry. One morning we even had the option of homemade tiramisu! You can eat in the kitchen or take to your bedroom.

Initially we were concerned with staying at a bed and breakfast where the owners actual live on the premises and sharing a common area with another room, but this wasn't an issue. Although we would pass them along with the other visitors every so often, we were on different schedules.

Another concern was staying south of the river/Ponte Vecchio. Do not let this hold you back from booking at this bed and breakfast! It is easy to access and within walking distance of everything.

We would HIGHLY recommend anyone stay at Bonsignori!

Room Tip: We stayed in the orange room which faces a well traveled street. Be aware that of this if you are s...

Aside from some really irritating logistical issues in finding the parking that Riccardo suggested, this B&B was truly lovely. The room was spacious (we had the "orange" room), the bedding was very clean and comfortable. the decor is bright and colorful. The bathroom was equally clean although the shower was a tad cozy. The breakfast was absolutely fabulous, fresh fruit, homemade jams, etc. They provide copious amounts of information on local places to eat and visit and even a local cell phone pre-programmed with taxi company phone numbers. I'd stay here again in a heartbeat and would highly recommend it.

It's like staying on your own flat in the centre of Florence, just turn right and you'll be in front of Palazzo Pitti.

The building is old (13th century, buy it's fully renovated and includes air-con and a lovely bathroom) and the b&b is on the second floor (no lift). There is a kitchen to share with the other room's hosts. You can have your breakfast whenever you want and there are plenty of things to choose (cheese, ham, home-made jams, cake, muffins, cookies, corn-flakes, orange-juice... ) and there is a nice cappuccino machine!

We stayed for 8 nights in the orange room (1double bed+1single) and paid 85 euro per night (breakfast included), and we also had to pay 1 euro per night & per adult (Florence city tax)

The owners live next door and they're willing to help you (mapx, suggestions, restaurants, taxi...). We would return!

A little ways away from the main tourist areas, but easily walk-able. The place is very clean and nicely setup. We met the owners sister (?) I think who showed us around, gave us a map and showed us all her favorite restaurants on it. Gave us the wireless key, and the key and that was that. We never saw her or the owners the rest of the trip.

There was always breakfast laid out for us, meats, cheeses, pastries. There was a cappuccino machine, but I didn't like it very much. There was also a regular "one cup" coffee maker that I used and was fine.

The owner is an artist and the B&B is really laid out and decorated very beautifully. You can see various pieces of her artwork around the place.

Great place! Price is right! Not too far from the city center. A+

one of our best experiences in italy (and we've travelled quite a bit there), our room was huge, very well-appointed and had a lovely historical feel, making you feel that you are in a historical city, and the location was extremely convenient. would definitely recommend this place to anyone.
