“Rude staff...”
Reviewed 4 July 2014 via mobile

We decided to visit La Taverna the second evening of our stay in Florence. We went there from close B&B hotel around 8 p.m. The restaurant was open, but we were stopped in the door by a waitress and she sent us out and shout that we can come after 10 minutes because the staff have dinner now. That was rude enough for us and we decided to find another place to eat.

“Nice atmosphere - good choice”
Reviewed 1 July 2014

We ate there a few times while we stayed in Florence. Recommanded by our Hotel. Behind the Grand Hotel Mediterraneo in a less touristic area, lots of local people. The food was very good. Tagliatelle was very good. Plenty of food. Good choice. About 12-15 Euro for a meal.

“Very average food”
Reviewed 27 June 2014

This is a neighbourhood place near our hotel but away from the tourist area, and correspondingly cheap. But the pasta dishes were rather bad indeed, so I've been generous in calling it "average" in the title! Hard to say what was wrong but both of us could not finish our dishes and left feeling dissatisfied with the lack of flavour. If eating in this area again, I would venture towards Piazza Sant'Ambrogio instead of sticking to Via Cimabue.

“Our favorite restaurant in Florence!”
Reviewed 21 June 2014

My husband and I loved eating at this restaurant! It was close to where we were staying and recommended by locals! They had great food and really amazing (and huge!) pizza! The portions were large. The servers were friendly, and the pricing was good! We ate here twice while in Florence!

“Fantastic bistecca”
Reviewed 16 June 2014

Fantastic little place! My wife and I decided upon the bistecca since it's a local favourite and not to be missed in Florence. I must say that although the minimum rashon is 600g (so best between at least two people), it is simply a delicious slab of meat and very reasonably priced. We devoured a bottle of the house red and a glass each of the in-house frizzante white wine which is absolutely fantastic.

All in all, the bill for Euro40 was great value for money and it's no surprise this cosy, rustic, family-run restaurant is so highly rated. If staying in many of the nearby hotels - we stayed in Hotel Mediterraneo which is around the block/ 5 minutes walk - it's a definite must to pop in and enjoy the best Florence has to offer without feeling you've paid an arm in a leg for standard food located in the city's centre.
